Basilica

Sights & Landmarks

The imposing St. Stephen's Basilica, built from 1851 to 1905, offers spectacular views of Budapest from its cupola. The building was damaged during World War II, but fortunately most of the mosaics that decorated its walls were saved. This popular attraction is dedicated to Hungary's holy king and the founder of the Hungarian state St. Stephen.

This is very beautiful basilica in center of town. It is one of the postcard image place of Budapest. There is no charge to see the Basilica, it is free of charge but you should give some donation. Also you can go on the top to have a panoramic view which cost you around 10 euro, there is an elevator. There are lots of good restaurant nearby

St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest is a magnificent architectural gem that left me in awe. The basilica's imposing dome, reaching a height of 96 meters, dominates the city's skyline and offers a visual treat for visitors. As I stepped inside, the grandeur of the interior took my breath away. The ornate decorations, intricate carvings, and stunning stained glass windows created a serene and majestic atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was the chance to view the basilica's most precious relic, the mummified right hand of St. Stephen himself, the first king of Hungary. This sacred relic is housed in a beautifully adorned reliquary, and its significance adds a spiritual touch to the basilica's historical importance.Climbing to the top of the dome was an unforgettable experience. The panoramic views of Budapest from the observation deck were simply breathtaking. I marveled at the stunning architecture of the city, with its iconic landmarks and the sweeping Danube River.Exploring the basilica's interior was a captivating journey. The intricate details of the statues, altars, and frescoes were a testament to the skill and artistry of the craftsmen. I enjoyed wandering through the various chapels, admiring the beautiful artwork and feeling a sense of peace and tranquility.Overall, my visit to St. Stephen's Basilica was an absolute delight. The impressive dome, the sacred relic, the awe-inspiring views, and the opportunity to explore its magnificent interior made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend adding this architectural masterpiece to your itinerary when visiting Budapest.

ST. STEPHEN'S BASILICAIt is named in honor of Stephen, the first King of Hungary (c. 975–1038), whose right hand is preserved in the reliquary. The basilica features a Greek cross ground plan. While we didn't visit the interior of the church, we purchased tickets from the ticket office located across from the right side of the church and ascended to the exterior balcony encircling the church's dome, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding city. The steps to reach there are quite a few, but the experience is truly rewarding, especially as you reach the vast area beneath the external dome, where you can glimpse the interior dome of the church.

Orestis - — Google review

Such a stunning building. The ticket office is just off to the side. Expect to queue to buy your ticket. We bought the combined ticket which I recommend so you can get the fantastic views from the top. There are lifts to each part but you will have to climb a few stairs regardless. One of the most interesting things was St Stephen's hand kept in a case.

Coralie Pattenden — Google review

For sure, it is one of the most impressive buildings in Budapest and Europe. The outside is beautifully lightened during the night, and the details of its facade can be viewed during the daytime. In December, you'll also have the chance to visit one of Europe's most astonishing Christmas markets here. The inside is also a strong recommendation for all tourists. Usually, prices and waiting times are okay if you're not visiting during prime season.

Stephan Wagener — Google review

Beautiful by day, beautiful by night. It's well worth paying to see the panoramic view, especially the sunset. To go up, you have the option of a lift (there are two - with a long queue) and stairs. Be aware that there are a LOT of stairs and spiral staircases. Be prepared 🏋🏻‍♀️

Nathasha Alves — Google review

Got the ticket for inside the church, treasury and terrace dome. The Full ticket is definitely worth it, inside is amazing and the terrace views are second to none on this side of the river. The treasury is less impressive and can be missed imo.. There's 307 steps and Further steps at the top so not suitable if you can't climb the steps

Absolute Empfehlung!(Translated by Google)It is the most beautiful basilica I have seen so far. The red marble on the walls combined with gold looks incredible! The altar and the ceiling painting are beautiful. The best thing to do is find a chair and admire everything from there. Tickets can be purchased online or in an adjacent building. There are discounts for seniors and children. Absolute recommendation!

Agnes Morcinietz — Google review

Very nice basilica. We can go up to the view point near the dome to get a good view of the city. You can choose either elevator or stairs!

Taro — Google review

Very nice place to visit. The interior is beautiful. Climbing the tower part was awesome. A lot of steps, but it's worth it. There is a toilet at the middle part of the tower. The views are incredible

Muzafar Umarov — Google review

St. Stephen's Basilica, a masterpiece of architecture and spirituality, graces Budapest with its neoclassical beauty. It is as beautiful from the outside as it is from the inside. The soaring columns and mosaic-adorned domes inside look truly gorgeous. Don't miss the panoramic lookout offering stunning city views.

Ragini Mehra — Google review

One of the Budapest must visits. Come early as it's very busy here. I suggest getting the rooftop combo package.A striking basilica from outside, it's a great photo opportunity. Inside is mind blowing. Such beautiful and reverence. A true blessing to the almighty creator. There are roped off spots for quiet prayer and reflection. Please take your hat off indoors. A group of Chinese tourists unfortunately showed a lack of respect by refusing to do so.The treasure room is interesting with luxurious and historical relics from previous bishops. The rooftop had great views on rainy or sunny days. It's worth the extra effort. You can take the lazy elevator or take the stairs like I did.Combined ticket is 3500HUF or free for teachers

Joe Macpherson — Google review

What an beautiful Basilica! We purchased tickets to hear Ave Maria and the acoustics were excellent. Take the time to wander around inside and see the art and altars. This is a functioning church so act accordingly. The Christmas fair outside is well done and had a lot to offer (much more than Vienna). This is on stop you should not miss.

Richard Wicker — Google review

Indeed, a treat for the eyes. St Istvan’s (Stephen’s) Basilica is one of the best architectures of Budapest. Although we didn’t get a chance to enter inside Basilica, we were delighted by the minute details of the arts engraved on the exterior walls.I am looking forward to visit the church again so that I can get a chance to enter and enjoy the panoramic view of Budapest from its terrace.

Krishanu Chakraborty — Google review

It's not a place to pray for free. The Basilica and its grandeur come with a price: 6,000 HUF. The church hall at a lower fee is worth the money, I think, unless you want to see the surrounding view at the top. The Treasury is composed of very ornate robes, monstrances, and paintings. Going down the spiral steps is not for the faint-hearted or weak knees. 4-man lift is available, but the queue is long. The view at the top of the dome is breathtaking. However, there's no need to pay this extra fee if you've already gone on the Budapest Eye. The church hall is impressive and quite popular with weddings. Its decor is breathtaking, and as with all Basilicas, it gives you that feeling that God actually resides there. If you want to light a candle, make sure you have the right coins as the paying boxes do not provide other methods of payment.

Maria Estrada — Google review

The place at the time of visit was crowded, but still had the time and space for observing and appreciating the architecture. It is of great historical importance to the people. There was a service going on but the experience was wonderful especially the amazing sounds from the pianoforte. Highly recommended.

Martin Lutaaya — Google review

Beautiful church. Worth a visit. The entrance it's not too expensive. Inside it's simply stunning and you can go up for the best rooftop view of the city.

S. F. A. — Google review

Lovely Basilica. The center of the city. Extravagant interiors but nothing different than say, St Peter's Basilica in Rome which is FREE. If you feel like giving a forced donation by buying a ticket, please do make the pope happy!I loved getting the free (voluntary tipping) walking tour with the guy in the red umbrella everyday at 11 am - i tipped as much as the entrance and was the best introduction to Budapest for 2.5 hours.andraci Avenue just behind it is fantastic to walk.

Aveesh Kumar — Google review

A beautiful basilica, we really enjoyed our visit there. This is the largest church in Budapest. To access the dome, you can use 364 steps or the elevator, and this offers amazing views. The entrance is approximately £10 pp.

Aleksandra Baranska — Google review

Really nice place. If you want to go in , you need to buy a ticket from the ticket office next to the church. There is 2 different ticketsEither just church or church and viewing gallery. The viewing gallery has a lift ( actually 2 ) to get up and down or if your daft as a brush. You can use the stairs.

Mark Ainscow — Google review

The view from the panoramic terrace is definitely worth the price of admission! You can see the entire city skyline from atop the basilica. I also saw the treasury, which had some very nice art, statues, and various Catholic accoutrements. The basilica itself has some beautiful architecture, finely detailed with statues of many saints and religious figures. I would say that anyone would find this place interesting. If you are a fan of architecture, history, or religion, it's a must-see.

Teddy Barfield — Google review

Stephen's Basilica is already very impressive from the outside, and it's even more impressive inside! The size of the basilica is huge and interiors are very richly decorated. It's worth buying a ticket with entry to the Panoramic Terraces, because the view of the city from above is beautiful!

Michał Kiełczyński — Google review

If you're visiting Budapest, the Basilica is an absolute must-see. This stunning architectural marvel is not just a feast for the eyes but also offers an enriching cultural experience. The highlight for many visitors, including myself, is the organ concert held at 5 PM. The acoustics of the Basilica paired with the skilled organist create an unforgettable auditory experience that resonates deeply within the grand walls of this sacred space. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, a lover of classical music, or simply seeking a serene and beautiful place to reflect, the Basilica in Budapest will not disappoint. I highly recommend scheduling your visit to coincide with the organ concert for an experience that is truly sublime.

Bruno Stefani — Google review

Yeah I don't get why you'd need to pay a few to enter a place of worship.Having said that, the fee paid is peanuts compared to the Jewish place not too far away, which is absolutely ridiculous.Nevertheless, back to this Basilica.I was impressed by the architecture and design. Truly amazing.

Ismail R — Google review

Probably the most beautiful basilicum I ever visited!Don't miss king Stephen's (not Stephen King 😉) naturally mummified right hand, which is one of the most significant Hungarian national relics. It's located in a box at the right side.

J. A. — Google review

I’ve been traveling around Central Europe for the past 2 weeks and I’ve not seen a queue this long to purchase entry tickets to a cathedral. Attempted to purchase tickets online but somehow the website wasn’t working so I returned the next morning before the crowd. There’s several ticket option - church and tower & treasury and a combination of both. There’s a lift that goes almost to the top of the tower with amazing views of Budapest.

Ling — Google review

Just simply amazing, probably the most grandeur thing in the city of Budapest. The view from the top is also breathtaking, especially during sunset.Be aware though there is an elevator that will take you near the top, you’ll still need to take some stairs more until you reach the viewing platform.

The St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest is a magnificent architectural marvel that effortlessly captures the essence of Hungarian grandeur and religious devotion. From its awe-inspiring exterior, adorned with intricate sculptures and towering domes, to its serene interior, filled with stunning frescoes and ornate decorations, every aspect of the basilica is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of its builders.Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by the majestic sight of the basilica's vast nave, illuminated by the soft glow of stained glass windows and bathed in the echoes of sacred music. The intricate details of the interior, including the elaborate altar and the shimmering mosaics depicting scenes from the life of St. Stephen, invite contemplation and reflection.Ascending the basilica's dome offers visitors a breathtaking panoramic view of Budapest, stretching out in all directions, showcasing the city's rich history and architectural splendor. Whether admiring the basilica from afar or exploring its sacred spaces up close, a visit to St. Stephen's Basilica is an unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impression on all who are fortunate enough to behold its beauty. Entrance is on payment only.

Vincenzo Prestera — Google review

It was an amazing experience the building itself was absolutely magnificent and the architecture humbles you. The inner section of the church takes you back in the era of kings and kingdoms and the artwork was truly something else. Last but not least the view on the floor is awe-inspiring I was left stunned from you could all of Budapest.

Nikolas Eleftheriadis — Google review

Spectacular church, opulent from every angle. It is certainly worth a visit while in Budapest. The treasury is a little disappointing as it's very small..the view from the tower is impressive. Expect to take some 145 steps. However there is a lift (and toilets mid way up).Like St Peters in Rome it is a masterclass in craftsmanship, and work that can be enjoyed by any regardless of faith.A certainty for a visit while in Budapest.

Michael Kelly — Google review

The exterior looks beautiful and fits really well with the other buildings, and the interior is absolutely stunning. The design of the altar is very eye catching. I would definitely recommend coming here, even if you aren't religious.

Ibrahim Mehdi (IM123) — Google review

We were so tired of walking all day and at the end we were almost not gonna enter here and skip it but it just made me forget all the fatigue I had. It was breathtakingly beautiful! I didn’t personally take the stairs all the way up to see the view but the inside was something I can admire all day long. Pay for that ticket and get in! ♥️

Sights & Landmarks

The Shoes on the Danube Bank memorial commemorates the 3,500 people who were brutally murdered by Arrow Cross Party members during WWII. The bronze shoes that are scattered about the riverbank just a short distance away from the Hungarian Parliament Building make for a moving sight.

A very historical surreal experience. And it was lovely to walk down the whole Danube promenade where there are plenty of other statues too! There are not scripts to tell you the story behind the shoes if you don’t already know. So googling the history is advised

Emma Hamilton — Google review

Nice location. Interesting story behind the shoes. Detailed metal work when looking at the shoes. This is a nice place to visit if you're local or a tourist. The views along the river bank are great and there is some amazing architecture! Worth a visit if you are ever in Budapest. Located right next to the parliament building.

Abel Everest — Google review

To get there you need to walk right on the edge of the river. We were there after a few days with heavy rain, which made it muddy 🤷🏻‍♀️ as there is no real pavement. Hope that in time they will build the beautiful promenade. The memorial itself was heavily decorated with candles, flowers and traditional jewish materials. It is a beautiful memorial, sad, melancholic.Would benefit from some lighting at night.

Andreea L. — Google review

Lovely monument for a terrible past. The views are amazing and highlights how far we have come. Could do with some readable information if you aren't on a tour.

Megan Reilly — Google review

It could get very touching if you know the story behind this. Looking at the monuments could bring you back to the devastating moment. Along the street and river there were many nice architectural buildings, not to mention the parliament that took us in awe.

Tan Sang Chuin — Google review

Heartbreaking- you can feel the terror and imagine the brutality. It is unimaginable how cruel and barbaric the Nazis and the eager evil Hungarian Iron Cross were, but this exhibit reminds us. Had my grandfather not left Budapest in 1921, our family would have surely been murdered as well.

Deborah Katchko Gray — Google review

It is a monument of a jewish victims in WWII. They ordered them to put off their shoes here. Definetly worth visiting and remember the victims. You can visit it for free walking by the Danube just in front of the Danube bank.

Georgi Dimitrov — Google review

A tear is definitely brought to your eye when you realize the trauma and fear of the persecuted people being chase into the river and being shot at by the soldiers, this type of brutality appear to still exit in our modern society in the Middle East.

The Hungarian Parliament Building is an iconic landmark in Budapest and one of the oldest in Europe. It is home to the National Assembly of Hungary, and is one of the largest buildings in the whole of the country. The building is decorated with lavish Gothic Revival-style decorations and features a spectacular dome.

This is a truly beautiful Building, I can only imagine all the important history that this place has had. The grounds are fantastic and provide some breathtaking views. In my opinion the parliament building really comes to life in the night. I would also recommend taking an evening river cruise to see it at its full beauty.

Wonderful architecture in Europe! It is Budapest's most recognizable building. From every angle, it appeared magnificent. Stunning location with trees, gardens, and of course historical landmarks. The architecture is huge and quite detailed. Stunning view of the entire building. Although I was unable to enter, I was able to appreciate it from the outside.

??????? ????????? — Google review

This is one of the largest parliament buildings in the world as the Hungarians saw Westminster and wanted to make their own version but slightly larger and I believe it is actually bigger than Westminster by about 20 feet. I recommend seeing it at night though from a boat ride when it's lit up. It's really beautiful.

St. K — Google review

This is a very impressive building, outside and inside. I was really looking forward to visiting it. However, only a few sections are open to the public, and that was disappointing considering how big this place is. You are not allowed to take pictures of where the crown is, but the room is astonishing. Guides are very nice and knowledgeable. If you have a European passport, the entrance is about £12. If you don't, I think it's twice as that.

Aleksandra Baranska — Google review

Building is beautiful no matter which angle you see. The best time to visit is in the morning and late evening especially from the boat. You can also visit it from inside but only with the tour which lasts about 45minutes. Tour is organized in different language but needs to booked in advance if for English.

Omg. One if the gorgeous buildings that I have ever seen before. This building is so perfect inside and out and during daytime and nighttime. You need to make a reservation to go inside and the normal price for an adult is 6400 ft but its worth it. You should definitely visit this place when you come to Budapest.

Stunning building, especially pretty at night when it lights up. I took a boat tour along the river and would reccomend it to see the sights along the riverside. Didn’t go inside but the outside is a stop that’s totally worth it in Budapest. Seagulls flying on top at night look like beautiful twinkling lights, magical!!

Very beautiful and magnificent structure. We booked a English guided tour of the Hungarian Parliament Building which lasted for about an hour and half. The tour was amazing and you get to know some interesting facts about the parliament building and Hungary history. This is really a must to go destination for Budapest. Here are a few tips to know before you plan your trip for the Hungarian Parliament -Try to book the tickets online from their official website well in advance (2-3 weeks in advance) since the tickets get sold out very quickly. For e tickets, you need to exchange your e tickets with the physical tickets.Chances of getting a ticket on the spot from the ticket counter is very difficult. However, if you want to try, reach the ticket counter around 8 am in the morning (it's opening time) and you might get a few tickets for the day.The ticket counter does not sell advance tickets. They only sell tickets available for that day only. Use online booking as much as possible and plan weeks in advance. This will be a audio guided tour where in you receive a radio and a headphone. The tour is available in multiple European languages including English. Please Note - You can buy the tickets with any language available for a time slot, once you enter inside, once you get the audio guided machine, you have the option to select the language of your choice. Thus contradicting the entire idea of slots based on languages.Last but not the least, the tour is amazing.

One of the most amazing and gorgeous buildings I have been so far in Europe. Not just the parliament building, everything near by is making it better. River, beautifully lighted bridges and trams. It’s definitely an experience when you visit during Xmas. Must see for tourists!

Budapest most famous building. Huge and amazing Parliament with a stunning architecture. Unfortunately we were unable to get inside, therefore I recommend buying tickets online well before you decide to visit the Parliament. Worth a visit and definitely you can take some amazing pictures here.

Flet — Google review

One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. It is the third biggest Parliament house in the world and one of the most beautiful parliaments according to me.Once you go inside there are some guided tours (approximately 45 minutes) that can provide you with useful information about the parliament and history. They are offered in many languages including English, German, Spanish, Italian, etc. It's good value for money at around 10 Euro.Certainly it looks much better from outside it's massive and very photogenic. The area around it is very well designed & landscaped. It’s very symmetrical and gigantic. You can not miss the sight from almost anywhere around the Danube from many kilometers. The inside view of this beautiful monstrous building is equally incredible. If you are in Budapest a visit is really a must. The night view from a far distance looks like a royal gigantic palace with a beautiful reflection in the pristine waters of Danube.

Visiting the Orszaghaz Building in Budapest is an experience that should not be missed. Its stunning architecture, rich history, and cultural significance make it an essential stop for any traveler seeking to immerse themselves in Hungary's past and present. The main hall features a magnificent staircase that leads to various chambers and rooms filled with historical artifacts and artwork. The attention to detail in every room is remarkable, from the beautifully painted ceilings to the exquisite furniture.

A spectacular sight and must see on an any visit. Highly recommended the tour where they take you around the parliament and you are given an audio guide to follow. You get to see the grand staircase and the guarded crown of Hungary. You also visit one of the legislative chambers. On the tour you get to learn about the history and design of the building and its influence. Recommend visiting inside and out. Lit up fabulously as night.

Sights & Landmarks

The Fisherman's Bastion is a beautiful fortress with lookout towers that offers panoramic views of the city. It was built in Roman style in 1895 and was damaged during World War II, but has since been restored.

This place was stunning! If you are a fan of architecture or Harry Potter this was something magical! If visiting in the winter like we did i would suggest you wear proper shoes as we wore trainers and was icy on some parts! Also it is very worth waking up early to visit this place with less tourists about.

Christiana Nolan — Google review

It's like a dream😴💭. Amazing beauty. The best place after Hungarian Parliament is the Fisherman's Bastion. Free. No charges. You can have a great view of Danube & Budapest. Great place to click photos not only of views but also of yours. Loved. Nearby good eating joints. Spend at least half day here.

Sonia — Google review

This is a really pretty place to visit, it does feel a little like a fairytale as there's quite a number of spires. You can visit the church as well as the bastion itself. There are some great views of the city from here and is quite a romantic setting (if it's quiet). Nonetheless, its picturesque views offer great photo opportunities and is not one to miss if you like that.

Leslie Pang — Google review

A very nice place to visit for free. You can take very nice pictures there. There are some shops and coffee places, but they are always full. The best part is Matthias Church with its beautiful roof (this can be accessed by payment only). There are plenty of places to sit, and there are some toilets but you need to pay for them.

Aleksandra Baranska — Google review

The architecture of this landmark is truly stunning. It takes you back to the monarchic times. It provides probably one of the best views of the city. If you want to avoid the crowd, go there early (before 10 AM), otherwise, you might need to wait for a good photo spot. But the best lights are around sunset (and obviously the place is packed at that time)

Definitely the most Instagrammable spot in Budapest, it's always a nice place for a picture. But be warned, it's full of people trying to have their picture taken. Better to go early in morning or late at night. Free to visit of course. Souvenir shop and coffee place on site. Highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning location, the highlight of our visit to Budapest. Most of the site is free, but for a small fee you can walk along the ramparts and take pictures away from the bulk of the crowds, which I would definitely recommend. The view is also lovely but the architecture is truly spectacular and it was hard to tear myself away from it!

Beautiful architecture and high vantage points for some of the best panoramic views of Budapest and the Danube river. Beautiful place in Budapest.Fisherman's Bastion is located at height. You can go by stairs. Or take the funicular from the starting point. After a bit of trek you will arrive at beautiful landmark. From where you can have completed view of the city overlooking Danube river.Architecture is at its best at this place.Must visit if you love to see old buildings and get connected with ancient times.Strongly recommend 👍👌

Such a beautiful place with a lovely lookout over this city and clearly the best picture spot in town as there were so many people there taking photos. But the whole place reminded me of Hogwarts. I just loved being there. Get a coffee or a chimney cake and just enjoy it.

Samantha John — Google review

This place is really lovely, the architecture is great. It has a great view of the pest side. Lots of people during the day but if you go there earlier, it’s really a different vibe and feel. You can appreciate the place more. There’s also a fee if you want to reach the highest wall in Fisherman’s Bastion. Tickets can be bought online or on site.

Jamie Marie — Google review

Not to miss: this the place, which you do not want to miss when visiting Budapest...it's very high on the hill with lots of stairs, if you search on Google maps it's recommends you to take stairs, and not many people are aware but a bus goes up to the Bastion...and it drops you right at the spot..no need to take single stairs. It's such a beautiful place with a mesmerizing view over the City Budapest...I would highly recommend to go there...it's an experience to be there...:)

Deepika G — Google review

My recommendation is to visit this place before sunset and observe sunset during hot summer days. The place provides beautiful opportunity to see Budapest and sun will paint the sky and makes amazing atmosphere.I don’t know why, but no tickets were needed.

Vladimir Balusik — Google review

Very nice part of Budapest. Very crowded with people who want to make a good picture for Instagram. But fantastic views of the city. Tip: visit at sunset / dusk for the best views.

Bram Bessems — Google review

A beautiful fort on the Danube basin, looking over Budapest stole my heart. Its beautiful roof tiles, architectural elements and the vibe from atop was truly extraordinary. This place is a must visit while in Budapest.

Piuli Basu Roy Chowdhury — Google review

This is a must!! It's a nice walk to get there, it has really good views and you don't need to pay to see the buildings (you can for extra sightseeing)! In front of the Mathias church we were lucky to see Chinese children playing a symphonic concert

Laura CM — Google review

This place is so amazing! It's look like from magic movie! One of the my favourite place I Budapest! This is amazing place to photos. Of course enthusiastic of architecture will be very happy to see this place.

Natalia — Google review

If you can visit in the late afternoon and stay until the early evening, you can get a nice view from here at sunset. I opted to walk up from the Chain Bridge because the weather was nice and I wanted to see all of the autumn colors as I hiked up to Castle Hill.

Jacqueline Stephen — Google review

The castle and fisherman’s bastion is right beside one another - It’s a visitors main attraction spot, but I most say extremely hassle free. I’ve travelled a lot, and most tourist attractions have creepy men trying to sell you items, or stick tacky bracelets on your arm then ask for money. Here none of that happens at all. You can walk around freely which is nice. Which should be the Norm to do anyways - but I found it good. Not too overwhelming (again this might depend on the time you go). February not that busy, and in the evenings very quiet. My apartment was close by, the views are spectacular. The downside you’ll see just LOADS AND LOADS of phones all over the place, in your face, in your space 😂 when are we ever gonna live in the moment 🤷‍♀️ you can see Budapest city from here. Look it’s definitely nice to see, to get into this little castle you’ve to pay a fee but you’re basically paying to see all these “travel bloggers and insta” people taken up the entire balconies 🫡

Very pretty. Shops locally and very expensive chimney pastry stalls €10 for one 😳). Can use scooters up here but check parking as we had to walk all the way back down to find parking or lose minutes. Restaurants up top. Areas to visit have to pay for them all about €3. Great views of the city.

L Rowe — Google review

Beautiful architecture, it is honestly impressive even more so during a sunny day! Reaching the bastion is quite easy by foot. However, as it stands on a hill, it can be quite steep at times (there are a lot of stairs, too!). It does have good bus connections (bus no.16 takes you straight to the main square).I would recommend going to the bastion not only for the amazing view of Budapest but also for the tour of the underground caves as it's really interesting!

Perla B. — Google review

A nice place offering a good view over the city! A bit overhyped on social media but definitely worthy of visiting. Can be crowded as it is a very touristy place but the exteriors of the church and the other architecture is pretty

Rucha Paranjape — Google review

Absolutely breathtaking place. Stunning views to the city and river. Be aware that the place itself and the Cafe that you can find nearby are pretty crowded.

Anna Solodova — Google review

Great visit here, atmosphere was fabulous and the views of the city and river were excellent. We took the electric buggy taxi up, a fun way to arrive.Food and drink available, make sure you have change for the toilet!.

Neil Littleales — Google review

The entire area is fascinating. All structures are very beautiful and picturesque. At the viewing point, you can see all the beautiful sites in Budapest like Chain Bridge, Castle, Parliament building and etc.Bus 216 send you directly under staircase toward fisherman bastion

Joo Hock Gooi — Google review

This is very popular place in city and one can get a good panoramic view of pest side. This place has a small park, where you can just sit and relax.Opt to come bit early in time while the day starts (before 9AM) to beat the crowd and get good photograph for memories.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

The beautiful white box on a hill high above the Danube is Bratislava Castle, which is often overlooked because it's not a popular tourist destination. However, despite its lack of visitor traffic, the castle has some great sights to offer including fantastic views over the Old Town, the Danube and housing estate Petrzalka on the banks of the river. The castle also contains a history museum with many chambers that are underused but still worth visiting.

Really nice little town famous for its colourful church. The short but steep walk to the castle affords great views. One route is by many steps, the other by a steep slope, it can be a bit slippy underfoot

graham horton — Google review

A landmark of Bratislava this castle is situated on a hill overlooking not only the city but Austria and Hungary as well. It has been reconstructed many times throughout history and it has well preserved gardens and yard. We did not go inside, maybe another time. It offers unique views of the city's bridges, the river Danube, the cathedrals and the old and new buildings. Apart from the tourists and tourist groups, we saw local people there doing sports, taking their dogs out or just going for a walk. It's a lovely place to visit anytime of the day and at night it can be seen beautifully lighted from many parts of the city.

Eleni Stef — Google review

It was a one in a life time experience for me and my family. The history was incredible, and the views were fantastic. If you ever decide to take a backpacking trip across Eastern Europe with a friend or family, you have got to stop and take your amazing pictures here! And go through the museum too.

Jesse (JP) — Google review

Beautiful castle on top of hill. The views from there are amazing. There is also a playground there in the shade. There are chairs around for the adults. The grounds are free to visit, which is fantastic. The baroque gardens are well maintained and beautiful.

Sze Yee Ong — Google review

Beautiful Castle! We didn't spend much time here, probably 30 minutes. We were on a tour of the City, and we were only able to walk around a little bit before getting on a bus to visit the rest of the City. There are great views of the City and the Danube River from here. The gardens on the north side of castle are beautiful as well.

Glen Harrelson — Google review

It is a very well maintained castle with beautiful gardens. But I feel like the 5 were missing. There is one panel at the entrance with details regarding the castle, but after this point, I couldn't find any other explanation. If you are bad with memory, like I am, you wouldn't know what you are seeing. Overall, the experience is nice and worth it. The views from the castle are amazing!

Lavinia Roxana — Google review

A nice Slovak monument, though, a place that could use a bit of detailed attention. It seems new but somehow falls behind similar places, missing soul somehow.I like it the best at night when the surroundings are not full of people (you can, however, meet younger people drinking there at that time. Still worth seeing and walking in and around. Makes up for nice pictures.

&Tilly [andtillycom] — Google review

Very nice place. Enter is free. Amazing view on Danube and Bratislava. Danube is green and strong with many tourist boat. There is souvenir shop, but it is very expensive. You can walk through castle and yard. It is unbelievable and unforgettable. Recommend to visit.

Radmila Lemaji? Ki?geci — Google review

The must-visit place in Bratislava, which written history begins in 907, can be seen from many places in the city. The castle offers panoramic views and a rich historical experience. Take a leisurely stroll through its grounds, explore the museum, and be sure to capture breathtaking photos of the cityscape from the castle's vantage point.

Willy Dinata — Google review

A nice place to visit while in Bratislava. Honestly, for me it's just a castle 😅. But have to admit that you see a nice view of the city as u go up. It overlooks the UGO tower and city bridge. Plus u can see windmills in Vienna and there is also a beautiful meadow to relax.

Amal Amra Tutuianu — Google review

Not the traditional castle looking, it’s rectangular building with towers at each corner. It’s historical and nice looking you can overlook Danube river. We enjoyed our visit. 2-3 hours requires to see entire building and surroundings.

Abby IW — Google review

I liked the walk up to the castle and the views of the city from the top. I didn't get to go inside because it was closed, but I still spent about 2 hours wandering around and absorbing the beautiful views of the city and the river.

Jacqueline Stephen — Google review

We enjoyed the views from the outside and walking around the exterior of the Castle but the inside is very odd. It's not expensive but, there isn't much to see, it's all spread out inside so there's lots of walking and stairs and the architecture isn't very interesting. For some it might appeal but, we weren't very impressed.

Laura Burden — Google review

Nice walk from the Old City but be prepared for steep climbs. Amazing views I’d the city and surround area. Didn’t go inside the castle but you can wander the grounds freely.

Colleen M Wagner — Google review

Very cute place. You can enjoy the views and gardens for free.If you want to get inside you have to pay for a ticket, the museum was not very big and with different things not related to the castle such as more contemporary history and modern art. If you are not a big fan you could skip it and enjoy instead the views and take pictures from outside the castle

Jorge Angel Infanzon — Google review

Nice castle and a fun walk through little streets to get there. The castle had been destroyed and rebuild so it looks pretty new and doesn’t have that typical castle feel. Fun to walk around it and enjoy the view and the garden without having to pay entrance! It’s not a very big area, we walked around for about 30 minutes.

Laura Kuhn — Google review

What a beautiful view to watch another leisurely day come to an end. Worth the short hike up. A must see for any tourist. The bathrooms were not open after hours when I visited though or I couldn't find them. The map was not helpful in that regard.

Rodney Hawkins — Google review

Castle is well worth the visit - and it’s free. The view is great. But, the museum costs money ….. however, it’s half price for seniors and students and it’s absolutely brilliant. I rushed around and that took two hours. It’s massive. Archaeological and History. Great icon art. It’s well worth a visit

jeremy kalous — Google review

We didn’t go inside the museum, but the grounds are beautiful and so peaceful! I was surprised how few people were in the gardens. I sat on an bench out there for a while, and it was very relaxing. It’s way up on a hill, but definitely worth the walk!

Jenna Dobbins — Google review

I really love this castle; it's so pretty, even when you're far away. Just a little climb from the bus station, and you'll be there. The view from up there and the castle itself are both incredibly beautiful. If you're into stunning sights and don't mind a short uphill walk, you'll be amazed by this charming castle and the fantastic view.

Chandra Kanth Reddy — Google review

A very nice place for a walk. There is a museum on the territory (paid).I wanted to get into the garden near the castle, but it was closed (it was late, in the evening).A particularly beautiful view opens onto the old town and the river.I recommend coming at sunset, when the sun's rays are soft and you get very good photos!)

Тетяна Пукас — Google review

One of the best places to visit in Bratislava the castle is maintained very well we can see a well inside the compound they have a beautiful garden inside and must Visit. We can see the ufo tower from the top. From the top we will get beautiful views

Athul L A — Google review

Definitely a must see in Bratislava! The rebuilt castle made an incredible impression on me. It looks fabulous from the outside, the gardens are also beautiful, and the interior of the castle is very elegantly decorated. It's actually a castle, but there is a large museum there that is really worth visiting! You can easily spend 3-4 hours visiting. the tower offers a great panorama of the city. A ticket to the museum costs €12.

Michał Kiełczyński — Google review

Definitely a must see in Bratislava! The castle looks stunning even in the winter from both outside and inside, the gardens are also beautiful, and the interior of the castle is very elegantly decorated in white and gold, and red. A ticket to the museum costs €12 per person and I love the Christmas market outside in the yard, one of the best wines I have tried, I definitively recommend visiting.

Maria Rangelova — Google review

This is a very basic caste on the outside and inside. The museum was minimal. On the first Wednesday of each month the entrance fee is free. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. The best part is the view from this location to the river and city below. There is a castle parking garage that has stairs that go up to the castle hill and it’s not a far walk to the castle entrance.

Travelbuff — Google review

Great views over the city and pleasant park. The castle itself is a cold, soulless rebuild from the 1950s, with empty and white interiors. Decent museum collection though. Can't miss it when here but not a must see either.

ArtisticBuilding — Google review

If you are in Bratislava, you must definitely visit its castle. The area that you see around the castle, as you walk to it, it's very nice and it's something different than the old town. The castle is quite big and located on the top, which makes it a great spot for photos and a view of the city. You can enjoy a walk around it, do some contemplating while your eyes run through the city and go down from the small roads on the rear side, for some mote exploration.I read that the castle inside hasn't got much to offer, so I can't have an honest opinion, as I trusted the fellow reviewer and didn't visit sas well..

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Gothic cathedral St. Stephan's Cathedral is located in the heart of Vienna and boasts an ornate spire, catacombs, and a treasury museum. It is a popular Instagram spot for panoramas of the cityscape from either the tower or the outside.

Very very stunning church in the heart of the city. Made it there during mass in the evening, but will definitely be going back today to get the feel of the place during the day.Amazing architecture from both inside and outside. It’s jaw dropping. And it has such an amazing/positive/calming energy. The is no entrance fee to the church itself but if you wanna climb the tower and its 300+ steps or to see the catacombs you need to pay. Will add an update after I do the tours today.

Ava Tamizifar — Google review

Totally worth visiting it's free to enter. We visited in the evening and it was almost empty likely because tour groups go in the morning. The amazing detail in these buildings is always amazing and something worth experiencing. You can enjoy it inside and out.

Kudakwashe Zimunya — Google review

Beautiful church, most of the main parts are free to visit so I can't think of a reason to not visit. There are some parts of the church which you need to pay to enter, I paid for the catacombs tour and recommend that. I also paid to go up the north tower, you get good views of Vienna and a good look at the amazing tiled roof, however I am not sure it is worth the asking price of EUR 6 - take a look at the photos below and decide for yourself whether you want to pay to go up.You can only buy tickets in person at the church, you cannot buy them online in advance, also they only accept cash, no cards.

Alan Chan — Google review

Be fit if you're going up the south tower worth it for the view. North tower little lift ride to the top great to see the tiled roof up close. The catacombs tour was good. I got out of the afternoon heat for half an hour, which is very informative. Highly recommended to buy an all-inclusive ticket

Liane'n'Paul chesterton — Google review

St. Stephen's Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece that left me in awe. The intricate details of its Gothic design, including the stunning stained glass windows and towering spires, are truly captivating. The interior is equally impressive, with its majestic altar and historical artifacts. Climbing the South Tower was a highlight, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Vienna. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and architecture lovers!

Khadij Brz — Google review

This was an incredibly interesting and beautiful place to visit. There are several options for tickets, we chose the € 20 all inclusive per person one. This allows a visit to the Cathedral itself plus both the North and South towers. One has an elevator and the other over 300 steps.Even though we could access both, we went with the elevator. The view was fantastic, both of the city and the rest of the Cathedral. Then we had a guided tour of the crypt, absolutely brilliant and a great tour guide. The tour was in German and English and highly worth taking.I would highly recommend this tour and if at all possible, try to be there for 10 am at least before the crowd. This part of Vienna is incredibly busy with tourists..Also tickets are not available online and must be purchased in person in the Cathedral. This is cash only, as is the gift shop.

Joseph Ryder — Google review

This is a must see for Vienna! The architecture is stunning. Once you’re inside the cathedral it is totally majestic and grand. My 69 yo father and I climbed Stephansdom South Tower - 343 steps in total. The views from the top were grand. Highly recommend!

Elisa Tseng — Google review

St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is a majestic masterpiece that truly captures the essence of the city's rich history and architectural grandeur. The awe-inspiring spires and intricate details make it a must-visit landmark. The interior is equally impressive, with stunning stained glass windows and ornate decor. Whether you're drawn to its religious significance or appreciate remarkable craftsmanship, St. Stephen's Cathedral stands as a symbol of Vienna's cultural and spiritual heritage. A visit to this iconic site is a journey through time, offering a glimpse into the heart of Vienna's enchanting past.

Beni Pater — Google review

Behold the majestic splendor of Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, a timeless masterpiece that transcends mere architecture to embody the very soul of Austria's rich history and cultural heritage. As you step through its ancient gates, you are transported to a realm where the whispers of the past mingle with the echoes of the present. Towering spires reach towards the heavens, their intricate facades adorned with intricate carvings that tell stories of triumph and tribulation, of faith and fortitude.Inside, a symphony of light dances through stained glass windows, painting the hallowed halls with a kaleidoscope of colors that inspire awe and reverence. Each step unveils a new wonder: from the grandeur of the nave to the serenity of the chapels, every corner holds a treasure waiting to be discovered. But it is not only the physical beauty of Saint Stephen's Cathedral that captivates the soul. It is the palpable sense of history that permeates its walls, the echoes of centuries of prayers and praises that linger in the air. Here, amid the hushed whispers of pilgrims and the solemn strains of organ music, one cannot help but feel a connection to something greater than oneself.Saint Stephen's Cathedral is not merely a building; it is a living testament to the enduring power of faith and the indomitable spirit of humanity. It is a place where the past meets the present, where the sacred and the sublime converge in a harmony that transcends time itself. To visit Saint Stephen's Cathedral is to embark on a journey through the annals of history, to walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, poets and peasants. It is an experience that will stay with you long after you have left its hallowed halls, a reminder of the enduring beauty and majesty of the human spirit.

Flavio — Google review

I recommend you to take all in one ticket. You can buy it inside, go to the left and you will see the entry to the South Tower. Buy a ticket and go to the North tower. To get there, go out and walk around the church to the left side. You will see the entry to the North tower. It was not easy to get to the top, pretty narrow staircase corridor and long way up. The reason why you should go to this tower first because it closes earlier (see photo). You can observe night city from the South tower only.

Viktor Tsvetkov — Google review

I had the opportunity to go inside and check out this incredibly historic cathedral located in the city centre of Vienna. Both the inside and outside of the cathedral are stunning and picturesque. It is free to enter the church but there is also certain areas of the church that you need too pay to enter. I definitely could have spent more time in here and would definitely do it again when in Vienna and definitely recommend stepping inside if you haven’t at least once for a few minutes. At the time we we’re here it was mid November and there was a large Christmas market set up in the city center and we were wondering around on the evening when the area was most lively. Definitely wish to come back in the future.

Donald hood — Google review

Amazing cathedral! This cathedral is one of the highlights of the city. The exterior is very beautiful (especially the Eagle on the roof) and interior is also really impressive. Going inside is free of charge but if you want to go further or to the catacombs there is a charge.

Don Pokocha — Google review

Such a stunning piece of architecture! One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever been to in Europe. The detailed work here is marvellous. I’d say it’s a must visit if you’re in Vienna. You won’t regret it.

Alfred Aquino — Google review

Check times. Closed for tourists during mass. Free entry but pay for central bit and catacomb tour. Very busy when we went around 13.30.It is truly subjective as it does depend on how much churches and cathedrals you’ve visited. We have visited too many I think especially the ones in Italy and even in England, hence this was a bit underwhelming. Gothic design. Tick. Ornate carvings. Tick. Not all of the outside has been cleaned which is authentic I think. We could see how history and time have affected it. Black soot/smoke from centuries gone. One thing to commend it for being different - amazing roof!! That, I love. ❤️

Vee Browse — Google review

Wow, St. Stephen's Cathedral is incredibly impressive, its size is breathtaking. The beautiful Gothic building is a symbol of Vienna. From the cathedral tower is a wonderful view of the city, but I warn you, there are 343 stairs to climb and it is very narrow, but it is worth it, I went up in June at 36°C outside 🤣

Michał Kiełczyński — Google review

Beautiful cathedral! The view from above is worth all the effort to climb the narrow staircase with 343 steps. The acoustics inside is fantastic. If you manage to attend to a concert, consider yourself a lucky ! The cathedral choir is very good!

Doshka Kuncheva — Google review

Beautiful Cathedral in central Vienna. While you do not have to pay to enter the church, there is a fee to tour the entire inside of the church. The line was too long the day we arrived, so we did not visit everything. Still beautiful and can take great photos from the free area.

Michael Mack — Google review

Wow. I'll be yet another person to add a 5* review to this magnificent church! Stunning in its exterior, the beauty manages to extend to its interior. We made it during a mass which was great to experience and then visited again in the evening. Let the pictures speak as opposed to my review, and in reality, if you're in Vienna you're probably going to visit :)Ultimately, my only gripe is that they only accept cash for tours.

Joe T — Google review

The church is beautiful! A must see in Vienna. I like that they have divided their tour into sections and prices and you can buy an all inclusive or just buy the ones that you want. We bought the cathedral and catacombs. Cathedral has a QR code tour on your phone that is very informative. The catacombs were amazing and a little scary. Must see. We wanted to go to treasury too but the timings didn’t work for us. Do check opening times because they seem to open and close for visitors throughout the day/week, depending on services and mass.

Ameena Sethi — Google review

Very beautiful cathedral. Since I came on Sunday, it's a good time for praying and no ticket entry but you can donate with buying souvenirs, and you can buy ticket inside if you want to look further more. 🙏🙏

Nomad's World — Google review

We loved St. Stephen’s! We decided to buy tickets to the catacomb tour and the South Tower and we felt that we saw plenty. I think we spent about 10€ per person total to see both.We loved the catacombs tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gave us a lot of information about the catacombs. It was very in depth and in both German and English. You pay at the end of the tour in cash (they have change). The south tower was quite a trek - not for the faint of heart or claustrophobic. The stairs are very narrow and you end up walking past people going the opposite way. It gets very hot as well, so I’m not sure I’d recommend going on a hot day. We went on a rainy day and it was cooking, but thankfully the windows at the watch tower were open with a nice breeze to cool down at. You pay for tickets at the entrance of the South Tower.

Alice Marchuk — Google review

Amazing architecture! One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever been to in Vienna. You won’t regret it.

Rizwan Jamil — Google review

You must visit this cathedral when you are in Vienna. It is the most beautiful church in the city and probably in Central Europe. The exterior of this gothic cathedral was build from 1300-1500. It used to have the highest church tower in the world, and when you enter this cathedral you will be amazed on how much effort the Viennese put in building this master piece. This church entry is free. But you can also visit some of the paid areas of the cathedral

Maria Rita Tan — Google review

An awesome inspiring cathedral inside and out. The outside is amazing with the tiles and spires . Inside doesn't disappoint with ornate interior , stained glass, high buttresses. A must while in Vienna . It is free but you can ppay more to see more.

Beautiful temple.Amazing architect.A must-visit in Vienna.Very helpful & polite staff. We did the all Inclusive tour, which was worth it!

KONSTANTINO SAVVIDIS — Google review

I think it is one of the most important cathedrals in Gothic architecture. It is truly a magnificent work, it also has ties with the Ottoman Empire. It was used as a shelter during Ottoman sieges, and its bells were also used to warn Turkish raiders...

I visited St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. It was a magnificent building with a rich history, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through its grand halls, one can't help but be awed by its beauty and the stories it holds. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone exploring Vienna, offering a glimpse into the city's rich past and architectural marvels.

Akiko Nakagami — Google review

Amazing gothic cathedral. The main cathedral in Vienna. You can get an all inclusive ticket for 25€ to go up both towers, the museum and the catacombs or it's about 7€ for each thing individually. We just visited the catacombs as my husband had been up the tower previously. The catacombs are well worth the visit! The tour guide we had was very good. The tour was done in both German and English and very informative and the tour guide was very charismatic.

Caitlin Broadhurst — Google review

The construction began in 1137 and completed in 1578, however due to circ*mstances such as fire and WW2, it needs to renovate or reconstruct until to this time.Anyway, this century old cathedral is one of the marvelous I've ever seen.It is an iconic tourist spot located in the heart of Vienna. The interior and exterior are jaw-dropping.It is a free entrance and yet a long queue especially in the afternoon. There is a portion inside the cathedral to purchase ticket entrance.During my visit, a throng of people passes by and you can't concentrate nor roaming around. It was such an honor to see, feel and experience a hundred centuries structural buildings.Recommendable tourist spot but I prefer you to come here as early in the morning to avoid people.

St. Stephens Cathedral is a stunning architectural masterpiece located in Vienna, Austria. The Gothic design and intricate details of the cathedral are truly mesmerizing. The interior is filled with beautiful stained glass windows and ornate decorations. Visiting this iconic landmark is a must for anyone traveling to Vienna, a truly unforgettable experience.

Absolutely Devine church in the middle of Vienna city. Only a very short stroll from the underground of Stephensplatz Plenty of opportunity to take Photos’ Off this majestic church. You can go in side but must pay extra to go to the front rostrum of the church itself. Plenty of photo opportunities. Still under renovations. Cheers big ears

St. Stephen's Cathedral, or Stephansdom, is a stunning Gothic masterpiece situated in the heart of Vienna. Construction began in the 12th century, and the cathedral has undergone various modifications and expansions over the centuries. Its iconic spire, reaching over 136 meters (446 feet) high, dominates the city skyline. The cathedral's interior is equally impressive, with intricate stained glass windows, majestic altars, and a beautifully crafted pulpit. St. Stephen's Cathedral is not only a significant religious site but also a symbol of Vienna's rich history and cultural heritage.

Historic city center

Historic Sites

The historic city center of Vienna, known as Historisches Zentrum von Wien, is a magnificent sight filled with elegant buildings, baroque castles and parks. The 19th-century Ringstrasse boulevard is the highlight of the area with numerous incredible buildings adorned with fascinating designs, carvings and statues. The location is exceptionally clean but can be overcrowded during holidays making it difficult for taxis and cars to pass through.

A truly beautiful sight. There are several buildings in this location. All with amazing and intriguing designs, statues, patterns and carvings. The area is very clean. Taking pics and stopping to admire can be uncomfortable as the area is extremely busy(as it should be). So better go in the morning or early afternoon on weekdays. During holidays, the area is decorated beautifully. Taxis and cars will find it difficult to pass the streets here due to excess pedestrians. All in all, amazing place, definitely a most visit when you are in Vienna.

Amazing! Clean photogenic city center, you feel surrounded by history! All the buildings attract your attention and get you mesmerized!!

A truly beautiful area of Vienna. There are numerous buildings in this area with amazing architecture, sculptures, patterns, museums and carvings. The area is very clean and has lots of opportunities for taking photos. The area is most busy in the evenings and nights when everyone comes out. During holidays the area is decorated beautifully and has many Christmas markets around the area as I experienced when I visited here. In my opposition from what I saw the best one was the large Christmas market near and around St. Stephens Cathedral in the historic city centre. I would definitely recommend this area as a must visit when you are in Vienna.I would definitely visit this area again when I am in Vienna

No other city in the world can be like Vienna. It would take three life times to see it all, and then a fourth to see what you have forgotten! Don't get into the tourist traps, but read about Vienna, get a good city map, learn some German, and venture out into the city filled with secret, small passages, Cafés, wonderful museums and very good food.

Castle

Nature & Parks

Schönbrunn Palace is an important and popular tourist destination in Vienna,Austria. The exterior of the castle is brightly painted yellow and its gardens are meticulously maintained. Within the palace walls are many ornate ceremonial rooms, including a world-famous rococo maze.

Beautiful palace. Great place to visit during the summers to enjoy the enormous gardens and grounds surrounding of the palace. The sculptures and fountains designed are stunning. From the topmost point it has a great view of the city. The garden is enormous even for a quick walk it would take hours. The trees are arranged in a maze like structure and there are zoos and greenhouses inside along with a Japanese garden. Would recommend 🌻

Olivia Joy — Google review

An Austrian palace with big gardens, rose garden and a botanic garden. Easy to get using public transportation.I took the 22 rooms self-tour (Imperial, 18€), and got audio guide included. Most of the rooms are not special or beautiful, the last 4-5 are the interesting rooms. If you have 2-3 free hours, it can be nice (but not a must). I was on February and the plants are in hibernation. I believe the gardens are beautiful on the spring / summer.

Avihay Froochzad — Google review

It is one of the most beautiful and famous palaces in Vienna. This place has a great historical background. This place is amazing for a walk 🚶‍♂️ or run around. The garden is very beautiful and is very well located. The palace inside is also very beautiful. A must visit place when you are in Vienna or around.

Umaid Ullah SAHIL — Google review

Spectacular building and gardens, really very big and as I realize, perfect for runners - the surface, shadows, small hill to run up. Grand tour with the audio guide was very worth it, a bit of history that makes the whole story interesting. I suggest to book tickets one day in advance though!

Peter Sliacky — Google review

A superb palace in every way, very well designed. The yard is huge where you can spend the whole day without realizing the notion of time.Unfortunately, I didn't have tickets to view the interior of the palace, but I am firmly convinced that it is worth to se it.I recommend to buy the tickets in advance because they are limited.

Balog Eugen — Google review

Free entrance to the exterior area. It's a beautiful place for a walk in the city surrounded by nature. The Christmas market was open on the 1st week of January, it was lovely. I recommend booking tickets online if you wish to visit the palace inside.

Βαΐτσα Γαλ — Google review

Got to the ticket office when it opened at 8:30am first available opening for the palace was at nearly 4pm. I highly recommend booking your ticket(s) in advance otherwise just walk the grounds and see what you can. The 'other' gardens this time of year aren't worth the extra money in my opinion. If flowers were in bloom it'd be worth it, but otherwise see as much as you can for free. If you want to do the zoo do the combo for that and the palace. Zoo is currently under a little construction. If you're on a bit of a budget I recommend leaving the grounds to find food for something more affordable. I highly recommend getting there early if you're interested in walking around to take photos. It gets really busy after 10 am so if want photos without a bunch of people there go early. Also take some euros with you. The bathroom at the ticket office isn't free but there is one in the palace as well as one in the park.

Keri Thibeau — Google review

Nothing can be said more than it is an amazing place. Very spacious gardens. Distinctive fountain, grand palace with legendary decorations. You can save money and enjoy the wonderful gardens and views, there is a restaurant with a panoramic view at the end of the garden

David Zaki — Google review

Just amazing! An amazing thing: we did not have time to visit everything (we were left with Desert house and Palm house plus the Maze) but it closed by 16:30 and we ran out of time (we started at 10:00 touring everything on the Great Tour plus). But we came back the other day and tickets were still available, which was amazing! So you can come back anytime and finish your tour the other day :)

Mihai Nitoiu — Google review

One of the highlights of my visit in Vienna. It was just too hot in the whole place because there are no shades. But the views are awesome. Definitely a Muss-see-attraction in Vienna. The entrance to the garden doesn’t cost anything. There are also free water stations around the area, so don’t forget to bring a water bottle when you visit.

Georg Zenitram — Google review

Very nice palace, but unfortunately we haven’t booked the tickets in advance so the waiting time was 3h.Though you can wonder around with beautiful garden, climb to the top of the hill for the beat views.

Tatevik Darbinyan — Google review

Every time I am in the Vienna area I have to go to Schönbrunn. I love it there so much. Every time I go I try something new. The gardens are almost more impressive than the buildings. There are so many different things to do there on any budget. Don't miss it!

Amanda Sutton — Google review

Beautiful palace .. fantastic tourist attraction in Vienna. The palace looks stunning in the night lights. The inside tour of the palace is nice. Photos are not allowed inside the palace. All the antique items and treasures of the palace are preserved very well. Great place to visit. Such a long area of the whole place. It might even take a full day to see the complete palace. The palace viewing tickets are sold here. A bit expensive though. Tickets are also sold to cover the half side of the palace only at half price. A lot of souvenir items are sold at the exit. The Christmas market is held here in the grounds of the palace during Christmas time.

Karthikeyan S — Google review

The palace was amazing. There was a handheld small device which provides audio guide throughout your tour in the palace and tells you interesting stories of the royals who once lived there. I got the imperial tour which let me toured through most of the rooms but I regret not getting the full tour because the palace was truly magnificent and I would love to see more of it.I visited the palace on 1st November, which is also a Viennese public holiday - All Saints’ Day. The waiting for 3 hours for me but crowd regulation was really well done. When it was my turn to go in it wasn’t crowded and I actually had the space and time to enjoy every bits of the palace. So try to get tickets prior to arrival and you will not have to wait. But even if you have to wait there is no worry as you can wander around the garden of the palace like I did (where I took the pictures attached) and walking about the small let me oversee the entire Vienna. The scenery and gardening was amazing. There was a small castle, which once was the dining of the royals, on the top of the hill and has now been turned into a coffee shop and an observatory. But be noted that you can only go all the way up to the observatory if you have bought the most expensive ticket type. I did not get that so I missed the opportunity to go up.Overall, I would say this is a must-go when visiting Vienna for the first time. You learn a lot about the local history and can enjoy amazing view. :)

Long Kiu Hung — Google review

Great palace, lots of content in, and around it.Takes at least full day to see it all, and being spread on a great area, there is lots of walking!Due to lots of tourists, there might be few hours between you buying a ticket and entering the palace.

Dejan Mratinković — Google review

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The whole family spent the day here, just wandering around the castle gardens. It is worth taking the long walk to the back of the castle grounds to see and eat at the coffee shop. Had cake and coffee and a rest before coming back down the hill. It took almost 3 hours. No charge for entry. Cheers big ears

michael laidlaw — Google review

The surrounding area of the palace is very beautiful. The hills the gardens all are clean and full of grass and flowers. One thing you must have in mind is that is better have your ticket prior your visit because of limited entrance.

Thanos Christanas — Google review

What a beautiful place to visit.I have to mention we have not been inside the palace (there is an entry fee if you are interested to go) but the outside and the park is pretty itself and free to visit and a really nice walk too! The view is amazing and if you visit during spring/ summer everything is blooming! Not far from Vienna city center and definitely worth a visit. Bathrooms available.

Danina La — Google review

Historic place with a great view when you go up on the hill. Been here after six years and I can say the garden had better upkeep back then. The rose arc is very beautiful during Spring and the fountain is amazing.

Hadi Jaberipour — Google review

Went late afternoon as was doing other things.€24 euro for standard ticket which will get you in the palace on a audio tour. Nice tour and some history along with it, about one hour or less to complete. You can go to the right side of the palace and walk the extensive gardens etc for free, which I didn’t realize initially as some other adjacent gardens you can pay for.Once you reach the back of the gardens you can go part way up the larger monument, to go to the top for a better view is €5 more. For the view it’s nice.

Scott Walmsley — Google review

This place is magnificent. It is free to enter and roam around the vast land area. There is a costly ticket at different prices (depending on which part/s of the palace you wanted to tour) to enter the palace. There is no line when we bought the tickets, but somehow there’s a lot of people freely roaming around the park, only few would buy tickets and enter the palace. Before entering, people need to surrender their personal belongings and get their audio phones for an audio guided tour, with different languages. It would took some time to finish the tour depending on your ticket, but the cheapest would be around 30 minutes to finish the tour. It’s not really time bounded as it depends how fast or slow you pace across rooms. Photography and filming are generally not allowed, one needs a permit for such activity inside the palace. There are souvenir shops at the ticketing area, at the end of each guided tour of the palace. Overall, it was a great experience. For tourists who does not know the history of Austria, they may not find the guided tour fulfilling so I may suggest to read some history facts about Austria and Europe, in general, or just roam and take pictures around the park and the garden for free.

Robert Dave Alonzo — Google review

It was my second time visiting the palace though we remained in the gardens without visiting any of the rooms. Highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time and downloading the app. The weather was phenomenal so there were people walking, exercising and enjoying the beauty. We lived the labyrinths and followed the app walking suggestions to take in the sculptures and photo ops.

Love this place. So beautiful and a photographers dream as so many backgrounds to use. We went for the day as we just got engaged and was peaceful place to walk and enjoy the moments. Love to go back to visit the Palace and the zoo. Vienna has our heart ♥

Beautiful gardens. Took a tour inside. Packed with historical furnishings art and facts. As we visited on the run-up to Christmas, we were lucky to have the Christmas market there, too. Well, it's worth a visit. There is a lot to see.

Dawn Jackson — Google review

This is a very beautiful castle with fantastic gardens. You will need several hours to spend time here and will definitely be rewarded for photography efforts as there is very nice contrast to use. The souvenir shop was one of the better ones and had several unique items to purchase. Just be prepared, these places, including this one, definitely aren't cheap with merchandise. It is still a place worthwhile to visit, and I recommend it to others.

Kirsten van der Merwe — Google review

A must for visiting Vienna. Manicured gardens and a well narrated prerecorded tour of the residence. Plan for timed tickets with a 60 to 90 min wait after purchase which is enough time to walk the grounds. Tours can be a bit crowded, but worth it! Bring cash to use the bathroom at the entrance.

Daniel White — Google review

Although I never got to see the inside, I enjoyed the grounds and the lovely Easter Market they had outside. My visit to the palace was tater spontaneous and hadn’t purchased a ticket online. Upon arrival, we found that there was over a three hour wait to enter the palace once the tickets were purchased. Highly recommend you purchase that golden ticket in advance to save you the wait.

Fran Roy — Google review

Besides the great museum, the garden and trails are amazingly beautiful and well maintained. A perfect place to spend the day with family and friends or for a solo relaxing walk. The cafe is also very nice and the scenic view of town is spectacular!

Marina Garcia de Paula Campos — Google review

It’s free to enjoy the grounds, which are extensive and beautiful. The Palace tour has 3 options - we took the longest (e29 per person) - which are all audio tapes. They move you through fairly quickly. Luckily it was not too busy as we visited in winter.Lots of souvenir shops and cafes. We made the climb up to Glorietta which truly has amazing views.

Patricia V Waldron — Google review

A wonderful piece of history!Take the time to stroll around in the splendid gardens, imagine yourself in the shoes of the Impress just for a moment. We came early in spring, we recommend visiting when all has blossomed to appreciate the beauty of the gardens, late spring / early summer.

Othman HACIANE — Google review

If you wish to do the full tour probably best to book in advance. We managed to do the basic entry state rooms tour without delay but it was a 2hr wait otherwise, this bit really doesn't take long to view. That said seeing the actual external architecture & vast grounds was the best bit and that's free to enjoy.

Mark Derrick — Google review

For the palace it’s a very huge palace with so many rooms. Each room had their own story and design. Beautifully decorated, with different color and furniture also the artwork in every room. I recommend to took a longer tour, so you can get to see the whole palace plus the audio guide provided insightful information. For the other part of the palace they have an enormous size of garden. The garden are free to enter except some like the orangery or the maze. We spent a few hours walking around the gardens. I know it would be beautiful in the summer when the flowers are in bloom. It will be very busy during weekend/public holidays. So make sure to buy the ticket beforehand.

Abbey

Sights & Landmarks

Stift Melk is a splendid Baroque abbey located in Lower Austria, overlooking the River Danube from a rocky outcrop. The towering twin spires and high octagonal dome of the monastery church dominate the complex. The interior is extravagantly decorated with numerous smirking cherubs, gilt twirls, and polished faux marble, creating a dramatic baroque atmosphere.

Very beautiful! Quiet on a Sunday. 1 hour parking was just enough to see Stift Melk and walk down to old town for 10min.Absolute shame that the inside of a Baroque church is closed off to the general public instead of its art being able to be appreciated by everyone as intended.

James 'Jimi' Doohan — Google review

The Melk Abbey is a must visit in this part of Austria. The public parts of the Abbey can be visited by yourself or in a guided tour that takes you through an exhibition, some state rooms, the impressive library, a terrace and the magnificent church. The exhibition gives information about the order and the abbey in a very thoughtful presentation. The staff is friendly and efficient. The buildings are a marvellous example of baroque architecture at its finest. You can also walk around some very pretty court yards and well maintained period gardens. The entire complex and visitor’s approach is incredibly efficient. There is also a good restaurant on site.

Lovely place to spend a couple of hours. The church is quite spectacular.Gardens are very pretty.

Diana Dessy — Google review

My visit to Melk Abbey was a truly enchanting experience that transported me to a world of architectural grandeur, culture, and spirituality. This iconic Benedictine monastery, perched high above the town of Melk in Austria, is a testament to centuries of history and the enduring power of faith.Exploring the abbey's stunning interior was like stepping into a treasure trove of art and culture. The library, with its ornate frescoes and impressive collection of books, was a highlight, providing insight into the knowledge and devotion of the monks who lived there. The abbey church, with its baroque design and intricate details, was a visual masterpiece and a place for quiet contemplation. The frescoes and paintings throughout the abbey added an extra layer of beauty and historical significance. The abbey's setting, overlooking the Danube River and the picturesque town of Melk, provided not only breathtaking views but also a sense of tranquility and serenity. It's a place where nature and architecture harmoniously coexist. The staff at Melk Abbey were knowledgeable and welcoming, enriching the overall experience. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an art lover, or simply seeking a moment of reflection, a visit to Melk Abbey is a must. It's a cultural gem that encapsulates the grandeur of Austria's religious heritage and offers a truly enriching journey through time. I highly recommend it to anyone exploring the Wachau region.

Melk Abbey is a must-visit. It's beautiful and worth seeing. I recommend going on a sunny day to better appreciate the colors and views. Unfortunately, you can't take photos inside, but it's one of the most stunning churches I've seen, with an equally gorgeous library. Consider taking a guided tour in English, even though it's a quick visit, it's highly recommended.

Judith — Google review

This place is spectacular in every aspect and part. The architecture has great attention to detail and it has been maintained very well. The church and library are the best part. Inside photos aren't allowed to we didn't take any. The view from top is also amazing, overseeing the Altstadt (old town) and Donau. It is important to follow the noise regulations inside the church.Everything inside the church was amazing to see. There are guided tours both in English/German and potentially in some other languages too. If you are visiting solo then try to plan your moving around the abbey in a way to avoid being in same place as the group (gets awkward).Upon our visit the garden was closed but you wont miss much by not going there. You can read about it on the panorama view terrace though (has some interesting background). There was ample of parking at the spot. Do not forget to get your card validated at the ticket counter in order to avoid paying for parking.

Faisal Masud — Google review

An truly amazing Abbey. The location is perfect, on top of a hill making it looking more beautiful, big and marvelous. It's difficult to explain with words it's majesty. I would really highly recommend visiting it and the ticket costs only 13€ including the beautiful garden, a gorgeous Library including an stunning view from the balcony.

Doris Karapici — Google review

An unforgettable experience for me to visit the abbey which is rebuilt in 13 century. The building is very convenient to take photos as background. There is also a garden near the build. Unfortunately, we come across a snake in the grass.

Harry Qian — Google review

A beautiful place to visit. The tour was fascinating. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was willing to answer any questions posed to her. The library is the center piece of the abbey. The view from the terrace was impressive. The garden paths were also a highlight of our visit. So much to see here from the gardens to the abbey. Highly recommend a visit.

Bill Lakie — Google review

The melk abbey reminds me a luxury historical palace. The building is really huge, impressive and decorated. The trip inside is however really short with a little museum of its treasure, the really beautiful library and the amazing church. The church has so many decorations that is almost overwhelming. The ticket is a bit overpriced in my opinion especially because they don’t allow photo in the inside.

Riccardo Gatti — Google review

Visiting this abbey with a river cruise. A beautiful newly renovated entrance garden. Going in with a guided tour, the interior was amazing. The museum showed you some rare artifacts of the abbey. The library contained some of the oldest manuscripts in Europe. Amazingly it is still active and books could be borrowed with permission. The church was spectacularly decorated. It is still an active abbey with 20+ monks. It is also a private school with ~900 students. There is also a paranomia view terrace up top the entrance tower above the gift shop. Do not miss it as the view is spectacular. The visit was amazing and well worth.

We bought the day ticket on the train by selecting Melk as the destination at the machine in our local station. Took about 90 minutes out of Vienna. With every moment. Great souvenirs and shops and restaurants, just a magical location. Don't miss it. Have a beer or a Weiner Eiskskaffee at the pavilion, walk in the garden and take in the view. Brilliant!

Michael de Percy — Google review

Beautiful place! Orderly, clean environment. They place great emphasis on the protection, presentation and preservation of values. Parking is free at the train station. About 30 minutes on foot to the abbey.

Zsuzsa Fulop — Google review

Overpriced for what it is. Looks better from the outside than does inside. €13 to go in about 10 rooms, all filled with massive tour groups inconsiderately spreading themselves all over the place. You also "can't take photos" which I have never understood. Why? I've just given you €13 to come inside, everyone takes photos anyway and no one monitors this so why bother?

Jarrod Hunt — Google review

Our tour guide was excellent! She started in the courtyard and gave a great overview of the current happenings at the property. Then we proceed into the museum and they have you walk through the rooms in order. She showed us interesting little details, like the doors in the hallway that feed the large stoves still in each room. The tour goes through the history of the abbey and ends with beautiful photo ops right before the library.

St. Jost Church, founded around 1330 by Krumlov ruler Petr of Rozmberk, served as a hospital providing basic care for the sick and poor. The church features a towering bell tower and offers stunning views of Cesky Krumlov and its castle from a different angle. Additionally, it houses a small timber rafting museum, showcasing the city's history of transporting materials and passengers.

A beautiful place with an amazing view from the top of the tower, you can see the whole center of Cesky Krumlov and the castle with it's tower from a different angle. Timber rafts have been an important part of Cesky Krumlov’s history, having transported primarily materials in the past and now passengers. The small timber rafting museum is situated inside of St. Josh Church and is an incredible experience to visit.

A proper church would do something about the animal torture across the street. Bears are kept by the town in the tiniest piece of ground. It’s torture and our god wouldn’t agree with this.

(Translated by Google) Hospital for the sick and poor with the church of St. Jošta was founded around 1330 by Peter I of Rožmberk. In the years 1594-1599, the original church was rebuilt by the architect Dominik Cometta and a new tower was built at the same time. The new church was dedicated to the Holy Trinity and Petr Vok dedicated it to Krumlov Protestants. Originally, he planned to build a family tomb in the church, but in the end it failed and Petr Vok was buried in the family tomb in the monastery in Vyšší Brod. After his death, the church was returned to the Catholics and rededicated in the name of St. Still. In 1765, the tower was still modified in the Baroque style, but already in 1788, as part of the reforms of Emperor Joseph II. canceled and gradually rebuilt into a residential building. The hospital existed here until 1922. Today, the view is accessible from the church tower corridor, and even though the building is located lower than the castle tower, it is worth climbing the stairs - you have the Lateran, the Inner City, the Lazebnický bridge, the Parkán, but also the southern part in the palm of your hand castle complex. Lake

Bodies of Water

The Königssee lake is a large, translucent body of water situated south of Berchtesgaden. It boasts stunning natural scenery, including steep mountain walls that enclose the lake's fjord-like depths. The lake is known for its exceptional purity, with drinkably clear waters that reflect emerald-green hues. Visitors have the opportunity to take a boat ride across the tranquil surface and explore two different routes around the area, each offering beautiful views and hiking opportunities.

This rift created during the ice age is a pleasure to watch. It is a must-visit place if you are in Germany. Rent the kayaking boat for an hour or two instead of a motorboat to explore the lake.

VIVEK SURENDRANATH — Google review

One of the best places for vacation. People can enjoy their holiday with family and friends. During summer time we can enjoy the sunshine and the gorgeous views. I will definitely go there again with my wife and kids.

Md.Ashraful Islam — Google review

Lovely lake and would enjoy it better when it’s sunny, can spend around 2-3 hours, you would get into a boat which cost around 22,50 euros per adult. In the middle of the boat you can hear echo when it’s all silent and a trumpet is blown after that they drop you to a small island and can spend around 1-1.5 hours by taking a stroll or visiting a small church and can eat in the cafe

Virendra M Patil — Google review

Went early in the morning and bought a boat ticket at 14 euro. At that time, we were unable to alight at the church but nonetheless, the boat tour was amazing!Especially when the boat went closer to the cliff and the staff blow the horn, which reverberated throughout the mountain and reflected back!

Xiang Qian — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous place, superb views of the mountains and lakes combined. There is a boat ride which will cost you 25 euro for adults and 12 euro for children. You can also carry your pet which will cost 4 euro but you have to put mask on the boat. There are some hotels available to stay near by lake and feel the peacefulness and natural beauty.

ashraf sirajee — Google review

Gorgeous place. Make sure to take the boat ride. They play trumpet and it echoes with the structure of the mountains. Truly one of the most moving events I have witnessed. 100% recommend.

Moni Gonz?lez — Google review

A must do if you stay in Salzburg take the one hour trip down. Taking the boat half way is good enough if you aren’t going to hike to the waterfall at the final stop and are on a time crunch. Lots of shops and places to eat but no grab and go options. Get there early or you will have a long wait to get on a boat especially if it’s a sunny day.

Kayla Burdick — Google review

Good place. Travel from Bad Reichenhall to Königssee is mesmerizing. Do take bus from Bad Reichenhall for the best view.

deepashree prabhu — Google review

No words to describe how beautiful it is. Take the boat to Salet. Walk over to Obersee, you can walk to the other side, but not suitable if you are not so mobile, as you have to hike / climb some "rock" stairs. It can be very slippery. It is about 40 min one way walk

One of the best lakes in Europe. One should visit this lake once if the that one is in Europe. Tip: Summer is the best time to go here.

A beautiful lake , still with not so many people and shops around. A great walk, lookout, waterfalls. I liked that.

Nice lake but very touristic and quite crowded on the weekend. There are many stalls in which you can grab something to eat or drink. Many souvenir shops. As we were traveling with a reactive dog, we didn't take a boat tour but rather walked around the lake.Found a nice spot from which you could see the lake, but it wasn't the best view.

Konigsee is a big lake nestled in the Bavarian Alps. The crystal-clear waters, lush greenery, and stunning mountain backdrop create a picture-perfect scene. Whether you’re taking a boat ride or hiking along the trails, every moment here is special. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike! We took a boat ride across to St Bartholomew’s chapel, and hiked up to the Ice Chapel. There is parking at the head of the lake, hotels, restaurants etc, and good transport connections.

Charlie Kinloch — Google review

Nice lake and very impressive but very touristic and quite crowded even we were there during the week (on Monday). We took the boat to another island and walked around the island. It took abt 30' to walk around the island.

Königsee is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Bavaria's natural beauty! The emerald-green waters, surrounded by towering peaks, creates a mesmerizing spectacle. The boat ride across the lake offers a serene and awe-inspiring experience, allowing you to soak in the pristine landscape.Don't forget to visit the iconic St. Bartholomew's Church, a true architectural marvel. Königsee is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking solace in the embrace of Mother Nature.

One of best places to visit in Germany. The lake is surrounded by mountains that provide breathtaking views of the lake. You can take ship or paddled boat to explore the lake.

Amran Hossain — Google review

One of the best views in Alps, absolutely worth seeing. Especially strongly recommend lake cruise. The trumpet melody played by the crew of ship among mountains was something really breathtaking.

Adam Sobczyk — Google review

A truly magnificent place in the world and a pride of Germany. It's magnificent, an incredible sight to witness! One of the nicest views in the Alps; highly recommended. I especially advise a lake cruise. The ship's crew performs a trumpet melody that is absolutely stunning as it passed through the mountains. Would love to go again.

Fortress

Museums

A huge, 11th-century fortress complex on a hilltop with breathtaking views over the city to the Alps is an unforgettable visitor experience. The fortress also offers one of the largest Medieval castles in Europe, with an exhibition space of over 335,000 square feet in 50 buildings.

Great place to visit when in Salzburg. You can walk up but we chose to take the funicular railway, which was fun. We bought the €13 basic ticket which was good value. It gives you return trip on the funicular railway as well as entry into most of the small museums. Museums were wonderful lots of interactive exhibits and easy to understand explanations. Great for kids and adults alike. A must visit when in Salzburg.

Karen Edwards — Google review

Absolutely amazing and a romantic experience! The short train ride up to the castle was fun. The views from the top looking down over this romantic little city was breathtaking. Inside the Fortress were highly interesting exhibitions. Great food and friendly staff. Just perfect for couples and families with children. Can't wait to go back.

Eva Leidenberger — Google review

Spent our last few hours in Salzburg hiking up to the Fortress. It was a great way to spend the morning. I really enjoyed learning about the centuries of change the fortress went through. I would recommend walking up, so you get a really good idea of why the fortress was so strong. The hill is long and steep. Seeing the three different gates makes a big impression as to the strength of the place.

George Sorrells — Google review

Amazing views of the area from the fortress. We would have loved to have a bite at one of the restaurants as the views from the tables were stunning especially on such a beautiful when we were there. There are a number of attractions to see in the fortress, some for additional cost. It is worth the time to make your way up.

Bill Lakie — Google review

This castle is amazing and so large! On a rainy day, it is still a great option as an ax activity for the day. There are so many museums inside. I would also highly recommend walking the Panorama Tour at the top for a beautiful view of Salzburg. Paying for the Basic ticket to take the funicular to the top, walk the panorama tour, was highly worth it even on a rainy day!

kelly schofield — Google review

This is an excellent tour with lots to offer for the price you pay to enter. The funicular up the hill is fast and fun. The fortress is in impeccable shape with several interesting museums that catalog the development and use of the fortress from medieval times through WWI. There is even a small puppet museum too. There are great views of Salzburg and the surrounding valley. We had a great time.

anthony scott — Google review

A must see if you're visiting Salzburg. Great for adults and kids (I took my 10 and 13 yr old). Definitely get tickets for all areas. It cost us 49 euros for a family of 4 and you get access all areas. The walk to the top of the prison tower was great! Views were amazing. The condition this fortress is in, is unbelievably good.Definitely get the funicular train to the top, it's excellent.Could do with better sign posting to help you get around better and maybe some more staff on site, so we can ask questions.Overall, a brilliant experience and well worth doing.

Andy Thorne — Google review

Lovely day out, there's a train to take to the top (and back). Amazing views from the top. We paid for all inclusive day ticket but the museums weren't that interesting inside. Absolutely beautiful castle though!

Hanna Cooper — Google review

Seeing a true middle ages castle, along with the lifestyle, customs and ruling of it is truly an amazing experience. The castle features a lot of stuff: from sightseeing at the top of the keep tower, to how peasants were imprisoned in the dungeon and how the castle was built, history around it and a museum. This has been a big dose of history for me, so for any enthusiasts out there looking to learn a bit of history during their trip, i totally recommend this place.

Andrei Oprescu — Google review

A place full of history. A castle that was never conquered. Several stages of time and many stages of tools and weapons. The view is amazing and it is very organized. You need plenty of time to see everything and it deserves. I really enjoyed and visited everything, however I haven’t read everything as this will make you spend a full day there. It is a must see place in Salzburg.

Wajdy Shalghin — Google review

What an amazing medieval castle perched above the city of Salzburg. There's a free guided walking tour in the morning for a bit of history and to get your bearings of the castle. There are many exhibitions and useful information around the castle. There's a spectacular view of the city and make sure you don't miss the organ which plays everyday at set times.

Alex — Google review

I spent €10.80 on a basic ticket. It is a "must visit" attraction if you are interested in taking photos. But if you are interested in history if the fortress, you may find a bit disappointed with the description as some of them are in German only.

Egbert Lai — Google review

We used the funicular to get up as it was a very hot day. Great views over the city and an interesting walk around the fortress. We ate at the panorama restaurant at the top of the funicular and the food was delicious. It suddenly became very, very windy just as we sat down to eat which of course, stopped not long after we finished our food!We had the Salzburg card so admission was free.

Natasha Panagiotopoulos — Google review

An imposing structure that sits proud above Salzburg. We spent a very pleasant hour ambling around the outer portions of the building. We did not try the museums as we were running late, but just walking around was interesting, and they had some fun little diversions around that the kids could try. There were some stunning views across the city to the mountains, and weaving and winding stairs and corridors. We took the funicular railway up and down (which in itself was fun) and added to the experience.

Charlie Kinloch — Google review

We visited this place on a Tuesday morning. We took the bahn to reach the fort. The entry was free because we had Salzburg card. It was not crowded in the morning, with time there was lot of people. It was an interesting place and has a great view of the city. The staff inside the place were very helpful and guided us well and also made us register for contract tracing. There is also washroom in the place which is well maintained. I would definitely recommend visiting this place.

N S — Google review

Very different fortress, as big as a village itself. The carriage ride to take us to the castle on top of the mountain was a fun part itself. The original palace goes back to 370 AD. The castle has been extended and renovated many times trough history. There are magnificent royal room on top of the castle. Worth visiting for sure.

M A — Google review

It definitely exceeded my expectations. I have not been everywhere inside, but I can assure you that the castle is really big. Most of all, I was struck from different sides of the site and beautiful views. If you are interested in seeing the whole of Salzburg, then this is definitely here. Also inside there is a considerable castle courtyard.

Roman Trach — Google review

Good views and interesting history around how the castle was made. There's a funicular up and down and you pretty much need the full ticket with all the add-ons to experience the castle fully.

Manoj Sunny — Google review

The castle is very pretty, panoramic views are highlights of the tour. The history of Salzburg described well with the model demonstrations. Funicular tickets to be purchased at the start, which serves the round trip. Best to visit during morning time as the number of visitors are less, can spend around an hour or 2 exploring castle.

meghana bhatt — Google review

Must visit in Salzburg. The funicular was short but still fun. The view from the fortress is marvelous and it gives you a good perspective of the city of Salzburg. The place also has a museum, view tower and some restaurants. Overall it was a fun EXPERIENCE and educational.

Maria Rita Tan — Google review

The fortress is spectacular. It dominates the city from afar and as you get closer you realize how massive it is.Loved the ramparts walk, the museums. The view from atop is just breathtaking especially on a clear day. You can see the Alps surrounding Salzburg and a cool view on the city as well. The fenicular is included in the entry price, so you can ride down to the city after the visit.I recommend hiking up, using the trails from the north side.

Radek Dabrowski — Google review

Visited in November during the off-tourist season and enjoyed a hassle-free experience with no long wait or need for reservations. The fortress provided stunning views and was a delight to explore. Highly recommended!

Amber Calloway — Google review

Very nice castle with a lot of information and things to visit.Children will like it!Also the view from the tower is awesome. You should consider to take the train to the top and then walk down the hill. The cable train is nice.

Jens Czaja — Google review

This is a must if you're visiting Salzburg. The fortress is one of the most characteristic places in the city.It is very well preserved, with a lot of museums and rooms to visit. It also offers an amazing view above the city.I really enjoyed the many snippets and videos scattered around the place. They provided a lot of historical anecdotes and gave us some glimpses of life back in the middle ages. You can reach the fortress with a funicular or on foot. I recommend walking up there only if you have the endurance for it. The trail is quite steep at times.I also recommend booking the tickets in advance online. There are always a lot of people going there and having already the tickets drastically reduces the wait in line.

Dan — Google review

It's worth visiting this fortress. There's so much you can see here and learn more about the history of Austria. The views from the fortress are breathtaking. The entry fee is €18 per person. After you have bought the ticket, you can take the shuttle train to get to the fortress.

Marina Trencheva — Google review

Great place to visit. What they don't tell you until you climb the big hill to get there is that it costs to just get in the grounds. Its worth it just for the views though to be honest gazing over the alps especially during sunset was lovely.I would recommend a visit if in Salzburg for a stay.

Philip O'Mahony — Google review

Easy to spend 1.5-2 hours here. The views are spectacular, and museums mostly good.State Rooms: They are beautiful (particularly ceilings and walls), but I hadn’t realized there were only 3 rooms to see. Interesting but only took 5 minutes to see.Main museum: An interesting mix of general history and historical life, but found the super basic English signs to be distracting. (They sound as if they were written for 5 or 6 year olds.)Regimental Museum: An interesting 6-8 rooms on military history in Salzburg given the regiment based there, particularly focusing on 1800-1918.Marionette museum: Two rooms with about puppets with signs in English, German, and Italian. Cute but in and out in 5 minutes.Purchasing tickets is easy either online or in person, the this ticket will need to be scanned before entering the funicular and various museums at the top.Toilets were quite clean in/near museums.Cafe: Service wasn’t great whilst waiting but nice to have option.

Becky T — Google review

This castle is beautiful enough to be said to be artistic. We can not only know the architecture of that time, but we can also know the culture of that time by seeing the castle and the building of castle. We can enjoy a meal, looking at the downtown of Salzburg from the restaurant in the castle. I recommend that you enjoy it with enough time.

Huge, close to town, and beautiful. You can swim, enjoy a crate of beer there, sunbathe, even surf. It does get very crowded on summer afternoons, so perhaps come in the morning from April-August. There’s plenty of shade by the sides and a couple of beer gardens for a bite and a drink. Police regularly has a presence in the area.

One of my favorites spots in Munich.During summer is full of people and you can do many activities there. To play volleyball you need your own nett but eventually you also can ask to join others team. You can swim and do the famous and traditional jump from the bridge at Isar. I always go with my friends, but sometimes after work I go there just to relax, feel some sun and read my book.

Definitely a park to visit when in Munich. The English garden is very peaceful, there are many walking trails, places to sit and have a picnic or stop at the Chinese Tower where you can purchase delicious food and drinks. Don't miss the area where the river surfing 🌊 takes place. Usually 10 or more surfers line up to get their turn. All ages, young and old! We were here at the end of September 2023. Beautiful weather and really enjoyed our stroll though the park. There are maps to help you not get lost, as the park is quite large. Many tours go to the English garden, biking tours, walking tours and we ever saw horseback riding (but not sure if that was a tour). Most of the trails we were on were paved and wide. Enjoy!

Eva Munch — Google review

This may have actually been my favorite place in Munich. Right in the middle of the city is a huge park. Luckily our hotel was right next to the park. I went for a run and/or walk every day in the park. There are so many trails that only was able to get to a small portion of the park, but it seemed very safe and it was so green with lots of rivers, streams, lakes and ponds. There are also Reataurants/Beer gardens spread throughout the park.

Plaza

Sights & Landmarks

Marienplatz, the vibrant heart of Munich, serves as a central gathering place for locals and tourists alike. This city-center square and transport hub is home to St. Peter's church, two town halls, and a toy museum. It is renowned for its iconic New Town Hall and the Mariensaule column dedicated to St. Mary.

A great location in Munich with countless places to shop, eat, and relax. The central square is also so large and distinct that it’s a helpful landmark for those of us visiting from out of country, and for meeting up with friends. The architecture is beautiful. The atmosphere is bustling. We had some great times, and great food here.Overall: key location and we will return when we are next in Munich.

An amazing clock tower with so much ornate detail. It was very busy even on Monday, I would recommend you go on a weekday. The clock rings 3 times a day in the summer. 2 in the winter. Amazing sight to see nonetheless.

Cole Wright — Google review

A nice central plaza that lies in the heart if the city connecting between its main streets and shopping malls. You can sit there for the whole day enjoying the traditional bakery and watching the freelancer artists doing their musical performance. Got money to waste ? You can do all your shopping from the near by shops. Apple is by the corner😍.

Ahmed Reda Donia — Google review

Main square. Very beautiful architecture, with non-standard design of balconies and stained glass windows. Each part of the buildings is unique in its own way. When you stand on this square, you temporarily forget that today is the 21st century - the surrounding environment takes you to the Middle Ages, the time of knights. This square is truly the historical center of Munich.

Diana — Google review

A perfect place that offers many different options to enjoy a nice beer in the outdoors. I loved the architecture there, the place is so beautiful and it is surrounded by many other wonderful places such as cathedrals, restaurants, emblematic buildings and other spots just waiting to be discovered by us!

Yorkys Alejandra Julca — Google review

Very beautiful place. To enjoy it the most i would suggest to visit it during the sunrise on a weekday when there are no crowds of people since it's extremely popular. Fantastic architecture, literally must visit for every tourist in Munich.

Alex Rybkovsky — Google review

The old city center of Munich is a place you can sit, stand, watch for hours with ornate detail and people watching.Sadly we missed the final Glockenspiel show of the day (17:00) but there were plenty of other bells to enjoy throughout the hour.

Tom Coomes — Google review

This place is incredible, you could stare at this building all day and still not see all the details. We went back to see the glockenspiel, at 5pm. The building could not be any more impressive. The performances in the square were entertaining too. It's definitely a spot you don't want to miss if you are in Munich. The train will take you directly there if you aren't in walking distance. There are many restaurants and shops nearby.

Amber Doran — Google review

This town square is a must visit in Munich. The architecture is simply gorgeous, with its unique balconies and windows designs/colors. There are many street stalls selling foods and drinks, souvenirs and branded stuff. Also, numerous street artists were performing when we were there. This further adds to the colorfulness and character of the area. The design makes us forget that we are in the modern days and takes us back to many centuries ago. There are lots to see, shop, eats for every taste and individual, from beer markets to restaurants. Our family of 4 enjoyed ourselves thoroughly here. Pity we were here on a day trip only. Will come back if we have the chance.

Seah Shao Jun Nigel — Google review

Beautiful place, crowded but lots of shops and pigeons. I recommend visiting. The glockenspiel show isn't anything impressive. I recommend taking the elevator for a few euro up the town hall and seeing a view of Munich.

Andy Ivanov — Google review

Just perfect for enjoying your beer out in the open, there are many bars or cafe around. And of course… the expensive shopping nearby. Any brand you can think of, you will find it here.

Dimitris Christou — Google review

Wonderful Square in center of Munich. Been here 4 years ago and it is always a pleasure to be on this historical place! Many shops, nice eateries, souvenirs, just enjoy and take a walk through the city center of Munich!

Vedran ?oti? — Google review

The square serves as the heart of the city, bustling with activity and surrounded by historic landmarks. The centerpiece of Marienplatz is the awe-inspiring New Town Hall. Its towering spires and intricate Gothic design took my breath away. Watching the famous Glockenspiel come to life was a true delight. The square is filled with charming shops, cafes, and restaurants that lined its edges. From traditional Bavarian clothing stores to contemporary boutiques, there was something for every taste.Marienplatz square in Munich truly captured the essence of the city. Its historic charm, lively atmosphere, and central location make it an absolute must-visit. Whether you're a history buff, a shopaholic, a food enthusiast, or simply seeking an authentic Bavarian experience, Marienplatz square has it all.

Heart of the Munich City. Every person visiting this beautiful city must have visited or passed through the Marienplatz.. city center of Munich. Most of the household items and all the shops are found here. Always a crowded place. It is definitely a safe place even though it's crowded. People are nice, they just care their own business. Place for all the young people to vibe around and spend nice time with the closed ones. Great place to pass time. Looks very beautiful during the spring 🌼 and summer 🌞⛱️ season. Nice tulips flowers 🌺🌹 are planted in this place.. everyday show time for the bell ringing amazes people and keeps them wait there and watch the show for few minutes.. no tickets and entrance fee are required. A lot of souvenir shops are found in this place .. highfi city area. Have fun visiting Munich Marienplatz.

Karthikeyan S — Google review

A nice place in the center of city with beautiful and amazing central location in Munich. The architecture is beautifully done. the central square is spacious and you can have a walk around old historical buildings as well as observe monuments around. They worth taking pictures of.The main reason people love to visit here is its atmosphere at the time of ticking clock tower with dancing dolls. It has couple of very tall towers from where you can have breathtaking views of Munich city. It’s a crowded place because main shopping street next to it. A lots of shopping stores, cafes & restaurants around for quick shopping or grabbing a quick bite.Don’t drive there because parking is bite far but best traveling by subway. If you are planning to visit Munich, this place is a must visit.

Great views, lots to see, shop, eats for every preference. We had a blast walking all over this area. Loved the market too. Fresh everything. Beautiful place to spend time and learn bits of Munich.

christine alvarado — Google review

It's an absolutely beautiful building. The clock tower rings out, high above the other buildings and through the streets. The figures dance around on a carousel. There are statues and dragons and works of stone from a very long time ago. Many people gather around, taking photos and videos as it chimes. Inside has some interesting features, like gargoyles and spiral staircase, more statues and some doors to walk through. Check it out.

Specialty Museums

The BMW Museum, located in Munich, is a cutting-edge steel museum that showcases engines, designs, and vintage as well as modern cars from the beloved brand. With its unique bowl-shaped design, it is a must-see for car enthusiasts. The spacious museum houses a wide range of antique cars and motorcycles that were rarely seen in BMW's early days. Spanning 5,000 square meters, it offers visitors an extensive collection of products to explore and can easily occupy half a day.

One of the best organized museums I've visited in recent history. Every part of it is informative, provides tons of insight on each particular topic.. There are even interactive screens where you can learn more certain engines, car models, and so on... The staff is also very pleasant and helpful towards the visitors, there is shop and bistro at the extension of the museum. Either way, very well spent time. It's a must-go destination in Munich, especially if you're a huge automobile enthusiast.

The BMW Museum in Munich is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and anyone interested in engineering and design. I visited the museum and was impressed by the vast collection of car models on display. From classic models to the latest releases, the museum has something for everyone. One thing that stood out to me was the knowledgeable staff, who were always available to answer questions and offer insights into the history and technology behind the cars. Their enthusiasm for the subject matter was infectious and added to the overall experience. The building itself is a work of art, with a modern design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding architecture. The museum is well-lit, spacious, and well-organized, making it easy to navigate and appreciate the exhibits. The exhibitions were particularly interesting, providing a glimpse into the evolution of BMW over the years. The displays are interactive and engaging, offering visitors the chance to learn about the technology and innovations that have made BMW a leading car brand.Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the BMW Museum in Munich. The collection of cars and exhibits, combined with the modern building design and knowledgeable staff, make for a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Fantastic place for moto fans including some history of aircraft engines.Highly recommend - if you don’t want to wait in a queue then buy tickets online in advance. Enjoy the cars and motorcycle evolution.

What an incredible experience! We loved walking around the BMW museum. There is so much to see and it is all presented on such unique ways. You could spend the whole day in here and see the history of BMW from its founding days until now. I highly recommend visiting this if you are in Munich and love cars.

Sebastian Mot — Google review

The museum is excellent, a huge number of specimens. All years and eras of production. There were no queues to enter. Lots of motorcycles, cars, engines, car frames. A walk of 3 hours or more.. Very interesting and impressive.

Diana — Google review

Absolutely magnificent museum. It is carefully curated and all the areas give some sense of the history of BMW, and for fans and just curious people alike, it is thoroughly recommended. We only spent one hour and a half there, because they closed at 18:00. But I feel like it would take maybe 2-3h to see the Museum perfectly, understanding everything so beautifully displayed there.

Every car lover will love this place. What a place!!!🫶Every information how it started and how many things they have worked for.Vertical growth and horizontal growth. Both are shown here and its embraced in a good way here.Highly recommended for anyone who comes to Germany.

I’m not a big fan of cars, so BMW WELT/world is enough for me. It’s free entry (vs. 10euro for BMW museum). The venue and display was set up in an very aesthetic way brought in a pleasant experience. Also u get brilliant view of the BMW “four engine” & “super bowl” building at 2nd floor exit

Alex H. — Google review

Building looks cool from the outside and the museum design and path are really good, some nice voice features I've never seen before. Some of the bike areas empty but all cars and engine(mostly Formula and planes) sections are great(especially the f1 and and the touring racing). Price is reasonable for 1.5h - 2h museum.

Nice museum to visit if you like automotive. Displays some of the historic cars, motorcycles, and products of BMW. The museum walks you through the history of BMW and their values. You get to see pieces from history and the modern ones too.Plan to spend 2-3 hours here. No line when we visited in December. Conveniently located by a train stop.

Amazing museum to visit. The BMW Welt is connected to the BMW Museum by a pedestrian bridge. The BMW Welt is free to visit , but the BMW museum costs 10 euros. It worth every penny. The museum is dome shaped and the welt is four cylinder building. Many amazing cars and bikes to see. The factory tour was one of my favorites. We got to see how different parts are made.

Armita — Google review

Every enthusiasts dream place but as much as it was interesting and had some good cars/bikes it sort of lacked my expectations.I wanted more, more M cars, Alpinas, maybe even a car to sit in but it's all a bit bland considering. I did learn a few things and would recommend but don't go in expecting a 10 star wow factor

History, passion, technology and future of mobility in one place. One of the must see museums while visiting Munich. You need at least 2 hours to visit the museum, catching some live tours or explanations from the museum staff. Across the street you can visit for free the BMW showroom showcasing new models, but also having some rare exhibitions sometimes.

Bogdan Spiridonic? — Google review

Amazing place. Fan boy or not this place has great history to show. All the cars at the museum are very unique and are described with great depth of detail which all the history behind the vehicles. If you are in the Munich or are at a close city I recommend visiting. A must see! Loads of gifts shops available at entrance of museum and at the BMW Welt area. Canteen has all sorts of hot and cold food so it won’t be difficult to plan your day here. It has a large car park finding space is not a struggle and it’s not expensive. Bays are large all sorts of vehicles can fit there no problem.

A must see place once visiting Munich. Nice cars and history. It is also good that there is no barrier and you can closely explore the cars. The only missing point is that the station wagon section was closed due to renewal.

Cool museum with great curation. Worth visiting if you are interested in motored vehicles, history, and of course BMW. Though I am not a big fan of cars or BMW, I still enjoyed the museum as it is. (Tip: Once you enter you will see a QR code which you can use to buy an online ticket, it will save you time.)

What an amazing experience! It was great to read about the history of BMW as well as see all the classic cars. Airplane engines, motorbikes etc. really great open space museum. Well laid out, doesn’t feel claustrophobic which is good also.

Sita S-R — Google review

Very interesting museum to visit. Might get a bit crowded, so be prepared for that. There's also a decent cafe inside for quick snacks.Definitely would recommend a visit if your in Munich.

RICHARD — Google review

We expected more from the museum itself, where new cars and motorcycles are top notch, museums don’t provide headphones, the history and eras are completely incomprehensible, you need to take a guided tour, there at certain times. The site for purchasing online tickets does not work, the site is bad. There's a line outside, we're frozen, try buying online and you'll be invited. Not the first museum, but a completely terrible organization.

If you think the Welt is impressive, please step into the museum. Immerse yourself into the past and present plus a glimpse of the future! We spent 3.5 hours and that’s not enough! So much to read. So much to learn. Like I said, we now understand our own cars better!Even my sister, who’s a die-hard Mercedes owner, agreed that both the BMW Welt and the museum were awesome. But now, because of this museum, she wants to visit Stuttgart next, to see whether the Mercedes Museum is as impressive as this one!

A museum to be seen and visited. You need to spend about 3 hours. It is a teaching and instructive museum. Car lovers should definitely go. Interesting contents and vehicles. BMW quality can be felt here! The gift shop was bad. You don’t have many choices.

We planned to visit this museum before our trip, and it's indeed an excellent museum to learn about BMW’s history, vision, and future of the company, as well as explore BMW cars from the past, present, and future. This museum is for all ages, and it's incredible. I highly recommend it.

Patrick Min — Google review

An excellent museum, which you must visit if you are in Munich. Large historical collection of cars and motorcycles, marine and aircraft engines.Considering the very large number of models, it leaves you breathless, even if you are not a fan of BMW. Everything is clearly marked and if you follow the numbers, you will visit the entire museum without any problems. Since you cannot bring Russian money into the museum, they have lockers that are locked by inserting a €1 coin, which you take back later when you take your things. Tickets are only €10. Very friendly staff, who will be happy to help you with any ambiguities. We were there on Saturday, given the excellent organization, we entered without waiting. I repeat, if you are in Munich, it is really worth paying €10 to visit this museum!

The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg is a majestic castle complex from the 11th century that includes a royal palace and gardens, offering breathtaking views of the city. Originally built as a court, it later became infamous for being used by the Third Reich to enact oppressive laws in 1935. However, its most notable historical event was hosting the 'Nuremberg Trials' after World War II.

I had a great time walking around the castle, appreciating the history and contemplating what my home country looked like at the time the castle was built and bustling with activity. I went on a rainy, dreary day but I still had good views of the surrounding area.

Bryson Coleman — Google review

Wow, wow, wow. Excellent castle visit to the Imperial Castle.Located at the top of a hill, overlooking the city of Nuremberg, the Imperial Castle is reached after a serious climb uphill. Not difficult for the fully able ,it is a long rather arduous slog up to the courtyard.*******,Handicap VERY difficult , if not impossible, not made any easier by the cobblestone road .*********( that said, I did see a gentleman with a walker!!!)The museum entry is 7 Euros, 6 if you are a senior or a student.Wow----super excellent presentation and displays of the medieval history of this castle 🏰. Armaments, armor, clothing, artifacts, explanations and visuals were superb. One of the best. Great value for the money!!!!Restaurant in the courtyardBEST VIEWS OF NUREMBERG. Quite a beautiful little castle. Really great museum. Would recommend getting the combination ticket as the view from the top of the tower is really great and the deep well tour is quite a different experience. They also got a couple of eateries on site.

It was amazing to visit this imperial castle of Nuremberg. The constructions were protected with 3 layered thick wall with around 10 ft thickness and 2 stages of different heights. The tunnels, the rooms, the towers, the gardens, the dungeons, the underground pathways designs and the city view points were awesome to see. I felt like I entered in the Game of Thrones series.

Amazing medieval castle that have been kept so well. This is truly a castle with super strong defense. Not far from the city center market, easy to walk to. Free to walk into it and there is a good view of the old town.Even though Nuremberg was 90% destroyed during WWII, the old town was rebuilt and restored according to the pictures they had of the old buildings and structures. So, much of the history is preserved. Otherwise, if they had decided to build everything new, there would not be not much of the past left to see.Very impressive old town city market with a gorgeous fountain and church, and you can buy fantastic food, flowers, gingerbread cookies….If you are a WWII history fan, then you have a lot more places to see.Really worth visiting.

Bei Lu — Google review

It's incredible how well-preserved the castle is post-World War II. Its grandeur and size are truly breathtaking. From the top, overlooking the town, you understand why it was strategically placed there. The surrounding city walls in Nuremberg are still intact, offering about an hour's walk around them. Navigating the city is convenient; everything is within a 30-minute walk from the center, allowing you to discover hidden gems like bridges, churches, and historic buildings along the way. The castle itself offers free entry and plenty of areas to relax. Exploring its various sections, like the converted horse stables and food storage areas, is best with a knowledgeable local guide to delve into its history. Though it requires a bit of uphill walking, the panoramic view from the top makes it all worthwhile, showcasing the city's landmarks and beauty.

Joel Jose — Google review

This iconic castle is likely more interesting from the outside than the inside.Due to destruction during WWII, most of the interiors are redone as a museum. The anvient weapons and armor displays are nice.Climbing up the tower was fun and offers great views. The deep well guided tour was the best part thanks to the enthusiastic and engaging guide.

Very impressive castle. A capital of European Kings from 11 till 16 centuries. Place where Holy Roman empire was ruled from. Building itself is really big on the top of the hill. Views around are amazing. Very strongly recommended!

Historical landmark & museum with commanding views out across the city. This is a must visit attraction if you’re in the city and would like to know about its foundation. Excellent exhibits, some interactive with translations available. Has a reasonably priced cafe and some gardens for relaxing in too. It can be a bit of a slog getting up the hill though. There may be accessible ways to get there that I did t see.

Michael Macgillivray — Google review

Great views of the old city from here. There’s a nice cafe and gift shop at the top. It’s worth the walk up for the views and the way back down is dotted with great places to eat and drink. Definitely recommend this if you’re in town.

The well tour is very good and a must do, the tower has great views and the pictures of the WW2 damage are a great addition - The museum itself has good info on the building and its years and associated history, better than I expected and staff very friendly

Very pretty, caring lots of history. I was a bit disappointed that the crown was a 3D model and not something that would replicate best the real ones, but that’s understandable. Not all the things inside the museum has an English translation, but it’s worth visiting the museum!

It has a really good view of the city. View point is open all the time, but the castle is closed on holidays and the weekend. Spent the new years eve here, and the view point was very much crowded.Inside it has a museum, a deep well, and a tower where you can take a better view of the city.

Beautiful castle. Nice view of Nuremberg city. Go with a tour guy so you will know the history of the place.

I still can't believe that the castle is still in such good shape after the Second World War. Breathtaking, massive, magnificent. When you go up to the top and look out over the town, you get a sense of why they built the castle where it is. I cannot get over how impressive it is. Also, Nuremberg is still surrounded by the great city walls. It takes about an hour to walk around them. That's the great thing about the city. You can walk anywhere and it never takes more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the city centre. Best of all, while you are exploring the city on foot, you will find many other gems on your walking adventure. From bridges to churches and other lovely old buildings. Enjoy!🏰✨️Little tip: During weekdays you can enter the inside of the castles for free. That is in the morning until 10am or so

This is a beautiful place to visit. It has a very steep cobbled path leading up to the entrance and a lot of steps inside. I bought the combination ticket which was worth it. The castle is well presented inside with educational displays. The tower is 112 steps up a spiral staircase, but the views from the top were beautiful. The tour to the well was funny and fascinating. The tour guide knew his stuff.

Great place for whole family. Waiting time usually not more than 15 minutes (Monday beginning of July).Ticket price ok for adults and kids over the height limit, but far too expensive for smaller kids who are not allowed to most attractions, but still pay full price.Food ok, the best one we found is the City restaurant with nice buffet.

All of the displays were amazing, but the lines for rides were just too long. I highly recommend visiting during a week day instead of the weekend. Our toddler didn't handle the hour plus long waits for rides, so we spent most of our time walking around and checking out the different displays.

Justin O — Google review

Mostly industrial food of low to average quality. It's tapas like, so that everyone finds something matching their taste. There's more than enough, especially if you bring kids since the portions are the same for all.The steak is reconstructed. The chicken was quite tasty (that was the best of the meal in my opinion). The servers were really nice. The room is extremely noisy.

Jeremie Le Hen — Google review

Amazing place for small and big kids. The wait time for the rides is quite long so the Express pass is worth looking into. Or spend two days, there is enough to experience!

Markus Tacker — Google review

Very nice experience if you or even better your kid is a Lego fan. I imagine the experience for kids is really amazing. On the other hand, the park does lack rides that would be suitable for older visitors. All in all would recommend, but don't get your hopes up too high as the park is also not really that big.

Janez Konjar — Google review

Amusem*nt park for kids all ages starting from 5 or 6 years old. 2 days 2 night is perfect compromise to enjoy and have some rest however the park is not extremely huge so if not so many people best attractions can be tried in a shorter time...about the cost I wouldn't say that park, overnight, food is cheap but surely everything around including toilets are very clean

Legoland is the top attraction in case you have kids. Few tips & tricks to plan your visit well:- if you can, plan your visit during work days, avoid weekends and public holidays. Even on Monday there were many people.- Online tickets available only, please take care to buy it in advance. Parking ticket might be purchased online as well- install app for queues monitoring, attractions planning, navigation- note all rides closes 1 hr before park closing. And yes, Sealife aquarium also categorized as ride 😁Kids loved it! Diverse settings with fun rides and playgrounds. Main dining area best value to eat, especially, pizza. Take water since expensive to purchase on site. Get there early with a plan as to priorities in rides since some have longer wait times as the day progresses. I suspect summer months will have this park very crt due to its size (small).LegolandWe came here to meet friends who have older kids. I thought my one year old wouldn’t really get much from it. I was wrong! We all had a lot of fun! The duplo area is just perfect for the little ones and he absolutely loved it there! The food at the restaurant was also really good and the changing rooms are super well equipped. We’ll come back!

Mritunjay Tiwari — Google review

A great theme park with lots of activities for kids in all ages. Most of the rides are suitable for kids 6 and older, but even the older ones can find lots of fun activities. You’ll find roller coasters, water activities, 3D, maze, tea cups, food and drinks.Don’t miss the Lego mini cities- quite remarkable!Park closes at 18:00 and can be quite busy during the holidays.Make sure to download the app for navigation through the park and queue times.

asaf fishelevitz — Google review

Great place for kids. Some attractions may catch attention of parents as well. Of course every attraction is hindered by queue, sometimes 40 minutes long Large parking place nearby.

Miroslav Okrina — Google review

Had a great time there with my kid and husband, spent 1 day there and we would have needed more time. We bought the tickets in advance, about 2 months before the day.The child was able to enjoy all the attractions even though he is around 120 cm tall (for some was mandatory to have an adult with him). All the attractions were closed at 5pm.The food is not that good, just junk food.

Andreea-Georgiana Marin — Google review

We had an amazing day out at Legoland Germany. We stayed locally, the night before and spent the entire day there. We went mid October Monday, so crowds were small. It’s was epic. Could have easily filled in 2 days, but had to keep moving. The kids 13 & 8 loved it. Roller coasters were appreciated by both the kids and adults. As an adult, I’d have to say, way cooler than I expected. Way cooler.

Ben Phong Nha Embassy — Google review

LEGO land in Gunzburg is one of the best playtime for kids. You need 1 full day to cover this park.I have been just 1 week before Halloween and it was best experience for my daughter.Ticket prices are variable and better to book early. Also I suggest to book online instead waiting in Q.If your kids 3 above and looking for safe rides, then this is the first choice.

Sureshkumar Vukoti — Google review

We booked a 3-night stay 20 days ago, the price was 330EUR for a campervan place to park and 2 day tickets for 5 people. We arrived on Sunday afternoon, the holiday Village was rather full. The facilities were clean, there was also a special cleaning machine for chemical toilet. Just be careful, some people use drinking water to clean their toilet. Yuck. It took about 7 minutes to walk to Legoland through a small wood. In the morning they open at 9.45, the rides start at 10 a.m. The waiting times differ a big deal- we waited 30 minutes for the top rides, 5 minutes for others. When it started to rain on Tuesday, there were absolutely no waiting times and the kids enjoyed Maximus ride 5times in a row. If it rains and you have a raincoat, you are in for a lot of fun. Just a note - there are definitely not enough places to hide from rain. If it rains and you want to sit for a while, no chance... just 2 pizza places which are permanently full. The food was nothing special - fast food schnitzel rather bad (10 eur) chips good (6eur), waffles very good (6eur), pizza okay(10eur), popcorn good(5,50eur). Alltgether the kids were over the moon, a place to go.

Irena Herynkova — Google review

Awesome!! I highly recomand to buy tickets in advance!! My 4y and 6y were super excited. Even if we were in winter season and many attractions were closed, we barely had enough time to explore 80% of the park in ~6h

Oana M — Google review

It’s a great park if you’re a Lego fan although somehow it feels older than it is (20 years old). Rides and attractions are ok although without much capacity, meaning you need to queue a fair bunch for very short rides (2-3mins). I can’t imagine that ratio during the high-season… Most of the staff was ok and average rude, not many English speakers. Plenty of shopping opportunities. We had a great family time but it’s unlikely that we will make the trip again.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

Located in the heart of the vineyards in Wurzburg, Germany, is a grand 18th-century palace known as Würzburg Residence. This lavish castle offers guided tours showcasing its exquisite frescos and paintings. It also boasts formal gardens that add to its charm and beauty. The Residenz palace is a significant architectural landmark, representing various European styles brought together under one roof.

I've visited the Residenz many times over the years and it's always an amazing experience. I love walking in the gardens, climbing the terraces and enjoying the view of the palace. This time I went inside again after several years and it was a very pleasant surprise to see how the presentation has changed. The large prints of black and white photos showing the destruction after 16 March 1945 add an impressive layer to the historic rooms.

Kerstin Blum — Google review

One of my favorite castle in Germany. It’s a really beautiful place and there’s so much to see. The rooms are very beautiful and some impressive. However, the staff was quite unfriendly and even a bit rude. They also do not allowed photos inside but I saw a lot of people doing it and the staff ignored them so I did the same. I also want to mention that they have beautiful blossom in their garden during spring. It was magical!

Melanie Mengus — Google review

It is very beautiful residence in Würzburg. We can not take a picture for inside of residence. However there are many amazing displays. Especially I would like to recommend to see a painting on the ceiling. It is most beautiful around the Germany. The garden is also beautiful and you can visit freely and take a picture.

Akira Rikitsu — Google review

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside - you definitely don't want to miss it!The incredulous wall and ceiling paintings, the breath taking mirror room and the amounts of silver and gold throughout are just one part of it, there's lots more.Saying that, I usually don't like castles too much, but this one.... Boy-oh-boy

Sandra Rolf — Google review

Beautiful place inside and out. Visit the gardens. Been many times as a child and it’s still the same. Worth a visit. You can park and walk around the town but you do have to pay for parking.

Jackie Daoud — Google review

one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. You will never regret paying only 9 euros for it. It is one of the must-see places if you are in Würzburg. It took me 3 hours just to soak up the interior. Very amazing sculpture, building, color meaning, everything is amazing. And the park next to it was also clean and comfortable, of course you can enter it for free. And don't forget one thing. You have to leave your bag and put 1€ in the locker to keep it and get it back when you're done. I had a 50 cent coin and it wouldn't work. A perfect place to take a perfect picture, just like a painting.

enkhl enkvshe — Google review

Nice Residence, internal visit is also interesting. It costs €9,00 per person. I recommend it. But unfortunately you cannot take photos of the interior. All the signs and boards with the history of every part of the place are in German and also English.

Leandro Copetti — Google review

Strongly recommended if you are in Würzburg. A beautiful piece of architecture with an amazing interior and an absolutely beautiful garden. The only drawback is that you cannot take the pictures of the palace from the inside. A very well maintained garden area with many varieties of flowers and a fountain in the backyard. The entry to the garden is free and you can see the palace from inside with an entry fee of 9€ per person. Garden has several vantage points of clicking nice pictures.

Animesh Kumar — Google review

Beautiful place to visit if you stop by in Würzburg. With the entrance ticket you will get a free tour within the residence. It start every 20min and will take round about 20minutes. The offering the tour in German and English Language. Backpacks are not allowed in the building but you have plenty of lockers there were you can put you luggage. You need a 1 € coin.

Jan Pörtner — Google review

Pleasantly surprised 😲 by the visit to this palace, baroque art in all its splendor.Entrance at €9 euros per adult, it's worth it. We spend a good hour there admiring all the rooms. It's not cold there 🥶, the rooms are heated. On the ground floor you will find toilets 🚽 located next to the storage room, after the checkout room.A lift is available for 🦽 disabled people.Selfie stick 🤳 are prohibited!

B.D — Google review

Best viewed with a guide...Stunning Frescos on the ceilings, amazing Baroque design. Do not miss the 'oh my god' room (such is it's stunning decor) lastly you must visit the Chapel which is so beautiful. Look for the all seeing eye!

Paul Hill — Google review

On the 10th day of our Viking Grand European Tour, we stopped at this grand location. This is part of tour package so we didn’t have to pay the entrance fee. The Residence is grand on the outside as well as on the inside. It’s just a little bit disappointing not to be able to take pictures inside but to see it with my own eyes is great. Upon completing the inside tour, you can also visit the courtyard garden and enjoy the flowers, shrubs and trees that complement the grandeur of this tourist attraction. By the way, the place is also wheelchair accessible via an elevator if you want to go to the main attraction inside the building.

Roger Vino — Google review

Beautiful residence/castle, gigantic, with impressive architecture. I recommend the English too which costs only 9€.

George Chalhoub — Google review

Actually it’s really beautiful place. Highly recommend to buy a ticket and visit inside the residence.

Anuradha Samankumari — Google review

Wow wow wow! We went to a lot of palaces and castles in Germany and Austria and I think this one is the most spectacular. It should be more well known! Dedicate a solid hour or two to the palace plus gardens.

Darcy Joan Gabriele — Google review

Definitely worth doing the tour in English as the guide was both informative and amusing. The entire palace is quite extraordinary, particularly since it was reconstructed following the British Obliteration in the Second World War (May will be forgiven please). The attention to detail in the restoration is worthy of particular comment, no one would know that these are not the original plaster, stucco or frescoes.

Bob Coates — Google review

Really amazing experience to walk through all the rooms. Everything is so grand and ornate. Very interesting. Surrounding grounds and garden is also pretty amazing.

Johnny G — Google review

The decor is amazing with all the details in the ceilings, wall paints & furniture. There are different decoration styles and colours which makes the rooms more interesting.I didn’t take a guided tour and was not sure if the option was available but I guess so.

Carla Seif — Google review

magnificent baroque imperial building dated to the 18th century. many sculptures and paintings on the ceiling with over 40 rooms to visit. divided between a garden hall on the ground floor and two round visits in the first floor. what is impressive the detailed reconstructed works after the war damage. even Napoleon spend a night here in 1812. the most beautiful room is the mirror room. entrance 9€ with a gift shop and locker rooms, language is english/german.

david antoun — Google review

An absolutely amazing space from the moment you pull up to the front. Inside and out it is an almost overwhelming feast for the eyes. Thorough tour and then time to wander inside and out. Well worth the time.

Justin Schiess — Google review

I took a train from Frankfurt to Wurzburg, just to visit here. The palace has breathtaking views from every room. I felt goosebump and feel some unknown energy every I go. I feel I am not the only one person in the room.

Suppasa Aimsaard — Google review

Beautiful palace with self guided tour. Seeing the Allegory of the Continents shouldn't missed. Take time to fully walk the gardens for great views of the Residence and city scapes.

Michael Jobe — Google review

We did a day trip from Munich to Würzburg and the palace is breathtaking. The work on the walls and the lighting and decor was mesmerizing. The fact that Napoleon spent a night at this very palace is special. You can get a tour of the palace in English and the entry ticket costs €9/ per person and if you are w astudent you pay one euro less. The palace gardens are stunning.Must visit if you are in Munich for a while

Museum

Sights & Landmarks

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is a world-renowned museum dedicated to the history of Mercedes-Benz and the car industry. Inside, visitors can see some of the brand's most iconic vehicles from the past century, as well as models from more recent times. The museum is located in a sleek metallic building with a double helix design that allows for two parallel audio-guided tours.

What a great museum! We really enjoyed all the interactive parts of the museum and getting a walk through history viewed through the lens of the inventions and innovations with motorized vehicles. It was really fascinating and we spent more time than we planned. Plus the museum design was really neat! So glad we went!!

Spring Clark — Google review

Fantastic museum!! I was impressed and it was cheaper than I expected. There were expositions from each decade since 1900. They were really really beautiful most of the car designs. The building itself was also pretty and quite impressive. Even the loft was cool.

Claudia Fern?ndez — Google review

Absolutely stunning museum designed to hugely enhance the amazing displays of historic and current Mercedes-Benz cars. We spent over two hours there and, had it not been closing time, would have stayed a lot longer. We thought the price of €12 per adult was excellent value for money and, as well as truly appreciating the sublime architecture, we were massively impressed by the world history displayed in the panels down each of the curving walkways on each floor. And to the cars! An awesome display of high quality vehicles of all types with individual plaques to explain their significance. No-one could fail to be impressed by the range, quality and descriptions for each vehicle on display. From the first historic cars to the most current Formula 1 cars, the range is quite unbelievable. The toilet, accessibility and food facilities are all top class, as is the range of items to purchase in the shop. In all, a highly recommended experience which is too good to miss if you're in Stuttgart. Thank you!

Jackie Gardner — Google review

One of the best automobile museums that I have been to (as an automotive enthusiast)! The museum was filled with not only detailed history about the car as a mode of transportation, but also world history so that one could understand the context of which the inventions or innovations were made in. Such a diverse collection of cars, iconic and legendary. 4 stars because I would have loved to see the latest cars from Mercedes-Benz. The newest ones in the museum were only concept cars from the past decade. Bit disappointed in this respect but all in all, worth the visit!

Azfar Zulkifli — Google review

Brilliant museum! I loved the mix of past and present. It truly was a journey through time. Sad I didn't get to see a mention of Bruno Sacco but still everything else was amazing!

Laert Imeri — Google review

The MERCEDES-BENZ MUSEUM was amazing! When you first arrive, you take the elevator to the top floor and walk down the spiralling path. It starts with the earliest vehicles and the vehicles get progressively newer the further down you go. The museum was well laid out with plenty of lighting. The parking garage on the backside of the museum made the visit painless and easy.

Justin O — Google review

Impressive museum! Sadly I got an audio guide with a low battery and it died in the middle of my visit. You get to keep the strap of the audio guide as a souvenir by the way.It takes around 2-3h to see everything depending on your speed. It starts with a chronological order since 1900. There is a lot of information for car enthusiasts and also for people who just want to learn more about the history of car making and the different inventions/technologies throughout the history. The design of the building itself is amazing. There are lockers and coat storage places. Toilets, which were remarkably clean, are available not only during the start/end of the museum but there is one in each level as far as I remember. At the end of the tour, some fun interactive activities are available which can also be suitable for kids, I think it was called science center or something similar. The gift shop had a very limited selection and was quite overpriced.

Ouissal Benameur — Google review

This was my first visit to the Mercedes Museum and I have to admit that I was really positively surprised. The architecture is amazing and totally fitting to the themes that are shown. Each of the eight levels tells unique stories throughout the history of Mercedes Benz. It’s easy to navigate through the museum and just beautifully made.Worth a visit! Or another one.

Great place to learn about the history of Daimler and Mercedes, and a bit of Mr. Porsche. You can see many of the original classic cars to rare prototypes. It’s nice to see big companies are helping to reduce environmental impacts.

The MERCEDES-BENZ MUSEUM is amazing place with plenty of vehicles. When you first arrive, you take the elevator to the top floor and walk down the spiraling path. A well-presented and arranged museum that not only encompasses the history of Mercedes Benz but also the history of the automotive world of cars. There are many of beautiful cars, trucks,F1 cars, buses. Everything is explained really well and plenty of information about every vehicle. Few euros for a ticket is really worth. The tickets were well priced and included a free audio guide.Good restaurant to dine in after your walkabouts. ne can easily spend 4-5 hours and if you are a car enthusiast even more. The museum was well laid out with plenty of lighting. The parking garage on the backside of the museum made the visit painless and easy.

We've been there on Saturday afternoon, didn't felt crowded. Museum is HUGE! Amazing experience, would recommend it to everyone. The entry is low in comparison what you see. You can even enter in some vehicles. Employees were mostly all very friendly. We can recommend also restaurant in museum, very cosy environment, friendly staff and food was delicious. 🙌🏻

Even for non car lovers, this place is still good to visit. What more for car enthusiasts.Having gone to 2 famous car museums in Stuttgart, here’s my take for Mercedes Benz, the exhibits are informative and I like how the museum flows with time and also with other world events. You will see why the entire Mercedes Benz or (Daimler) group is so important to the history of GermanyThe gift shops are well equipped with pretty nice souvenirs to get from. There are cafes and a restaurant. There are also locker rooms and coat rooms if you are bringing bigger bags you can store them and go for your tour.Went alone and spent about 2.5 hours or so in there. Staff are helpful and friendly. This museum is more family oriented and there are 7 levels of exhibits.I enjoyed myself especially knowing the history of Germany and the company. Ever wondered the names of Daimler, Benz, Mercedes and how are they related and why is it being used interchangeably? What does the logo stands for? You will get your answer here.

Quak Yong Sheng — Google review

The Museum is very nice. Starting at the top floor you work your way from the invention of the first engine, to the first motorized carridge to the first car and get a good historical view of transportation as we know it today. We enjoyed the exhibits that were much more than just looking at cars. The museum shows connections between world events and the car industry avoiding controversial issues.

Not all museums are boring! ;)This is such a great place to visit if you are fond of cars, technology or history. It would take 3 to 4 hours to cover all the sections. The audio guide works seamlessly. The cars on display are maintained with utmost care and are very well organized.Overall it's a must visit place for any automotive enthusiast!

Superb experience! They have 8 floors in total, every floor has its own story (and year). bring back to the old history of cars until the future or up to now.👍Suggestion: heard they give discounted ticket if you enter in the afternoon, about 50% disc if im not mistaken.

My time at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart left me with mixed feelings. 🏎️💔 While there were positives, some aspects fell short of my expectations. The museum layout and historical insights into Mercedes-Benz vehicles were well done, and the reasonable entrance fee was a plus. However, the lack of significant changes over the past 5 and a half years was a bit disappointing. 🕰️🤔 I hoped for fresh additions to keep the experience captivating for returning visitors.A downside was the presence of unrelated political propaganda along the walking route between floors. 🚫🗳️ This seemed out of place and distracted from the museum's automotive focus. The souvenir shop at the end didn't live up to expectations due to high prices. 💰😕 It dampened the overall value after paying the entrance fee.I recommend avoiding the museum during summer holidays due to large crowds. 🌞🚶‍♂️ This can detract from the enjoyment of the visit. In conclusion, the Mercedes-Benz Museum has highlights, especially for car enthusiasts, but updates, pricing, and overall visitor experience could be enhanced. 🏁🚗

Mahdiyar N.H.Gilani — Google review

A great place to visit when in Stuttgart. I have been there twice now and I am mesmerized each time. Their organized manner, way of storytelling is just amazing. We started at the very beginning of human civilization of using horses as a mode of transportation. From there, the discovery and use of motor vehicles, steam engines and fuel engines was just marvelous.A huge collection of collectibles and historical facts made the entire experience worthwhile. This was really a great experience for us.They also had a nice cafeteria and souvenir store along with a simulation centre.Tickets are subsidized for students, kids and senior citizens.

Piuli Basu Roy Chowdhury — Google review

Very affordable entry. (Paid 3€ each for students.) The super welcoming staff speak multiple languages are very friendly and smiling at you when they see you. Museum was great with many exhibitions and cars as well as a unique layout different to other museums which made it more enjoyable to walk around as it gave you views of the cars you otherwise wouldn’t see.

Liam M — Google review

Absolutely loved it here. Organisation is excellent. Range of exhibits is vast - including cars, buses, racecars, etc. Wide range of German and works history also covered. Audio guide is super helpful. Took us about 3 hours to explore the entire museum. Cafe is expensive for what it is (€8 for two coca cola bottles). Public transport is good to here. We cycled from central Stuttgart no problem. But trains also available. One of the best places I've ever visited. Thank you.

One of the best museum to see not only the development of cars but also the most significant events from around the world. The building is designed amazingly brilliant. Each floor is equipped with vehicles from decades and is connected to the next with a ramp that tells the story of important characters.

Definitely a must visit place if you love everything cars or even history. Took the guided tour, and was given a very in depth rich history of Mercedes-Benz. The models on display were simply stunning. It was amazing to know how the company started very humbly and progress into what it is today.

Very cool and bigger than expected museum. The interactive audio was spotty but very cool to hear some of the history. Lots of history in this museum of the vehicle, transport, and inventions that changed the world. Definitely a must see in Stuttgart.

I very much enjoyed my tour of the Mercedes-Benz museum. You take an elevator ride up to the top floor and begin with looking at some of the oldest cars and engines and walk your way down to today’s modern automobiles. As you journey through over 100 years of car history, you get to enjoy looking at all the cool cars, trucks, and other various automobiles Mercedes-Benz have manufactured.I recommend getting lunch in the cafe/trying out their restaurant in the basem*nt as well and making a day trip. It took me about 3 hours to get through everything and eat both breakfast and lunch here and I came by myself, so I’d say prepare at least 5 hours if you’re visiting with a group/your family.

Heidelberg Palace is a ruined red sandstone castle that sits on a hillside in the heart of Heidelberg, Germany. It is one of the most beautiful ruins in the world and is popular with tourists for its incredible views across the Neckar River. The only way to see the interior of Heidelberg Palace is by tour - after 6pm it is open to the public for free.

Beautiful, highly recommend for a lazy stroll. The views of the palace and the city from the terrace is breathtaking. We went on a rainy day and still managed to have a great time. There’s a short hike, moderately steep but absolutely doable. Wear comfy shoes. I saw some cars up there too, so I guess it’s possible.

Michele Sidoine — Google review

Really cool castle! The views of the city are incredible. The walk up is pretty steep so be prepared if you are going that way. Don’t miss the pharmacy museum and the giant wine barrel. The inner part of the castle costs 9 euros but it’s worth it. Also check out the garden in the back for even more great views.

deependablereviews — Google review

If you like explore castles, this will be educational and fun.Starting with a hike up the castle is highly recommended! It made me appreciate so much modern amenities - there is a cable car you can purchase to go up and down as well (€9 will get a person up and down the hill for the castle). The grounds outside the castle is fun to walk around simply for the view it offers of the town. Once up at the castle level, get ticket to the courtyard. It can be included in the cable car. It will take maybe an hour or hour and half but seeing the massive wine barrel - it will be the biggest ever! and learning about the start of medicine/ pharmacy in Germany will be a fun experience in the museum inside. Wander around to the front of the castle the view is great not just the old town below but also the castle structure itself.Happy travels

Definitely a must see when you're visiting Germany. While in the palace, you have the opportunity to see some historic artifacts and museums that are unlike no other. The palace gardens are also a true wonder.

Some really great views of the city and the area below. A lot of good walking. There's plenty to see. However, I was disappointed that I was displaced from the ticket shop for not having the right mask on. Apparently the n95 mask that I had on did not suffice. I'm sure this will change in time.

Great attraction. There is a train to the top, I learned this after walking up the dang hill. Wonderful views of the city. The architecture and decor are awesome.. The statues have amazing details carved into them. The garden is huge. The pharmacy museum was very interesting and offers signage in multiple languages to include English. Definitely worth taking family when they visit. Bonus, it's open on Sundays.

Beautiful palace situated up above the town with gorgeous scenery from its balconies and garden terrace.Impressive facades throughout the palace.Must do the guided tour to see its real beauty and learn about its historical misfortunes, the chapel at the end tour is exquisite.

Such a nice place! Both the castle and the gardens are worth a visit. You can access the gardens for free but will have to pay to enter the courtyard.Adult ticket is 9€ (August 23), which also includes access to the funicular going up and down. You'll need to pay an extra 6€ if you want to actually enter the castle which is only available through guided tours.

This place is magical in its beauty and rich history. Highly recommend going up for the incredible views. Most signs are in German but it appears they have information centers and tours if you want a better understanding of its story.

Great place to check out, it was wet and windy but we still enjoyed the site and your. Highly recommended the guided tour, they take you through the castle you can’t go through with a normal ticket. The garden was really cool with great city views and we could see the hustle bustle of Christmas markets from there too. The tour showed us some cool stuff in the castle and told us pretty detailed history about it. The tour group wasn’t huge either so could see/hear pretty much everything. Only 8-10 min walk up a hill or stairs to it also on old cobble stone walkways. Hope to see again some day.

A gorgeous site! The grounds are beautiful. Not much interior access. You can rent small lockers for a 1 euro deposit. Little cafe has nice & affordable snack options. Really enjoyed the apothecary museum. Take the funicular!

What a beautiful place. Rich with history. The palace is well worth taking a tour. I went with some friends and we really enjoyed taking photos and admiring at the grand and plentiful works of art. The view is incredible. The tour (i took in English) allows you to walk inside the hallways. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the palace.

Jason Freeman — Google review

One of the best “ruins castles” in Germany. We really enjoyed the tour through the castle. The views of Heidelberg from the castle are fantastic as well. It is a bit of a hike to get up to the castle. I would recommend taking the tram if you have issues with climbing stairs and hills or have strollers or older folks with you. The climb is pretty significant. I have now been to this castle several times and I’d go back again and again. Such a great place with such an interesting history.

Kris Allee — Google review

It’s an amazing castle, I will tell any one about my visit there, the view from castle above the city is beautiful. If you would visit it, try to go before 5:30 pm, because the bus from down to castle through the mountain will close and last trip to enter it will on 5:30. It costs 14€ or 9€ for adults to buy a ticket. Garden around the castle is also nice. Enjoy 😊 (The stairs are long if you want to walk up, you can go up walking but maybe will be difficult for some people)

Samer Fahed — Google review

Amazing place, I could expend days just wandering inside and outside the castle, is simply amazing. The views that has to offer are also out of this world! I bought the ticket for €14 that allowed me the funicular and museums and then at the castle bought the audio guide which is totally worth it tbh. They had it in different languages. There’s also a Michelin 2020 restaurant inside the castle.

Cesar Holguin — Google review

Very nice old palace, you should definitely walk around and visit the garden. All the surrounding are accessible for free. But the entrance to the courtyard costs 9 euros. It’s unreasonably expensive, on my opinion. The size of the yard and what you can see inside is not worth the money. The yard is really small and partially closed for restoration, some cars are parked in places, there are too many people... In addition, to get inside the castle you need to pay even more and book a tour. So I was very disappointed. But again, the castle itself is spectacular and worth to visit, just consider thoroughly whether you need to go in.As an advantage, free toilet next to the cash register😉

Oleksandra Silik — Google review

This castle is located atop a hill with beautiful views of Heidelberg. There are several displays inside showing what early pharmaceutical equipment was like. You can walk to the top of the biggest wine barrel you will ever see. There is a large open area where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the views. Food is available at a couple of different places on the castle grounds. The castle is accessible by foot (a little bit of a climb) or by train (tickets are available for purchase). You could easily spend a couple hours here.

Chris H — Google review

A beautiful, amazing site that has tremendous views! Over looking the entire old town, this castle is a must stop if In Heidelberg! I highly recommend going there during sunset because it’s magical to watch the city and castle grounds light up at night!

MrKingluke663 — Google review

I find this castle ruins romantic, specially when going there before sunset. Start by exploring the old bridge which offers lovely views to the city and the castle. Then walk around the old part of Heidelberg city. There are many restaurants offering different cuisines and amazing architecture. Then walk or drive to near the castle and spend the late afternoon there. There are benches to sit on.

Emy Evans — Google review

Definitely worth the trip. I took the funicular railway from station Kornmarkt, they offer different tickets, 1 to the castle, single or return, another 1 to the top. I bought the whole trip to the top, cost 14 euro. Price include entry to Heidelberg Palace. U can go all the way to the top then to the palace or stop at palace then continue to the top. I went to the top first, it was very foggy due to rain, fully covered with fog, mist. I just walk around a bit to enjoy the nature n cold. Then I went to the castle, was raining... but it has a much better view at the castle. It is so beautiful, although ruined but still majestic. There are 2 museums, pharmacy and the brewery..is free, just go in to get some shelter...but the wine barrel is so huge and the wood used to construct the barrel is so solid. I would highly recommend a trip to Heidelberg Palace/ castle

Eunice Ang — Google review

The majestic castle ruins in Heidelberg look down on the city is one of the most impressive sites to see. It is an absolute recommendation for a day trip, with great views on the city and beautiful architecture that you can enjoy even though most of it is ruins. There is a unique pharmacy history-museum, a nice cafe in the cellar, and there was a huge Playmobil exhibition last time.we visitied.

A wonderful landmark, overlooking the beautiful town and running river.Castle itself is mostly in ruins, though they converted the main ground into some simple and small museums.

Heidelberg Castle is a true gem nestled in the heart of this historic city, and my recent visit left me utterly spellbound! The absolutely breathtaking view of Heidelberg city. The architecture, the history, and the sheer grandeur of Heidelberg Castle make it a must-visit destination. But the real magic happened when I reached one of the viewpoints overlooking the city. The panoramic view of Heidelberg spread out beneath me was nothing short of spectacular. I definitely recommend also taking a tour of the topmost part of the castle.

Greeshma jain — Google review

A truly amazing infrastructure with a breathtaking view of the city of Heidelberg. It was well worth it coming here. I took the stairs going up which I wouldn’t advise if you’re not doing much cardio like me. Better to use the other path or the cable car.

Francis Palalon — Google review

Visually appealing historical monument that tells the story of opulence and power. Every ornament has creative details of history and artisans with skills beyond ordinary. The texture, color and breadth of the different parts of the castle are worth seeing in a lifetime.

A must see.We visited on a Sunday in late Feb 24. Weather was cold but dry. Wear comfortable shoes/trainers.This is a great place to go and visit. Park in the underground carpark in the centre of town. Allow at least 3 hours for a visit. Entrnace was €9 per adult (includes a return ride in the funicular and entrance to the castle). We also booked an English speaking tour (lasted about 90 minutes and you get to see places the public are not allowed in (€6 per person - you can purchase it when at the castle, but check times first. Highly recommended). Most information boards in English and German. A couple of souvenir shops.

The Romer, a medieval building with a stepped gable facade, is now the town hall with a balcony and many portraits. The building has served as Frankfurt's main city hall for 600 years.

The beautiful and picturesque old town is a must visit when in Frankfurt! Amazing half-timbered buildings that were once completely destroyed by Allied powers’ bombings during WWII, now rebuilt to their full glory! Drink your coffee or beer in one of the numerous cafes and beer houses on the square, admire the architecture, take photos and travel back in time with your imagination! 100% recommended!

Suuuuper cute little city center, unfortunately most areas were blocked off since they were setting up for a Christmas market opening the day after we left the city. Still was able to see a lot, just not many clean pictures.

Its nice - the only thing to see in frankfurt really, although none of it’s original of course - the entire city burnt down during the war. I guess that’s why there’s about 5 tourists in the entire city. Anyways, if you are visiting there’s like 1 tourist shop and a few cafes to outside in. The little church is super plain inside and not really worth going in

Stunning historical structures, main square of Frankfurt and city hall. It was too crowded when I visited there but you can take a tourist picture in front of the buildings, buy magnets etc.from souvenir shops and also grab a beer and walk the streets or lots of authentic cafes to stop by. There are also another charming old buildings like old opera and frankfurt cathedral nearby. It was such a great spot!

The Porta Nigra, an ancient Roman city gate in Trier dating back to 180 AD, is a well-preserved and significant historical site. Constructed with heavy stone slabs, it serves as the northern entrance to the city and stands as the only surviving gate among four. Originally part of a fortified wall surrounding the Roman city, it now holds UNESCO World Heritage status. In the 11th century, it was converted into a church dedicated to St. Simeon.

A Canadian Tourist Review: A ticket to go inside Porta Nigra is 4 Euros. This is the most iconic attraction in Trier. There is some cool architecture inside but I wouldn't say it is essential to go up to the top. The view is mainly just for the ground directly below. I think you can appreciate it just as much from the outside. It is a very cool piece of Roman architecture and well worth the visit!

Logan Saunders — Google review

Beautiful piece of history. We did this with our three kids ages 5,3,1 years and they loved it even after having gone to the Roman bath ruins. The older two were able to walk the whole thing and I wore the baby. Lots of places for photos, not too crowded on the May weekend we went. There are many dining options right outside the building with lots of vendors and shopping. Highly recommend!

A must if visiting Trier. Visited in mid-April. Allow about 90 minutes to do it justice. Four flights of (spiral) stairs, so if you are unsure on your feet think twice. Information boards have several languages on them, and the multilingual guide (avail via their intranet and your phone) really brings it to life and explains how it originally looked, and how it has survived over the years. We parked out of town and walked in. I imagine this gets very busy during the summer.Lots of ticket options available. Also, this is right next to the Tourist Information (very helpful staff).

An ancient city gate built in the Roman empire. It’s quite different from the other historical buildings I’ve been in Germany. Even though it’s unique, to be honest, there isn’t much to see inside. The information is a bit hard to access but the ticket is cheap so it’s definitely worth checking out if you are in Trier.

P — Google review

Impressive building with an interesting history. From decay to a pilgrim place to a double stacked church. This was then ordered to be demolished by Napoleon? And somehow a Roman gate survived. The free audio guide on your phone explains it all very well. The inside is interesting, inexpensive and gives a good view over Trier.

Floris van Hal — Google review

Beautiful! A must visit in Trier in my opinion. There was a violinist playing under the gate area too, which you could hear through the whole building. That really added to the experience and made it feel even more special.

Goldie — Google review

Stunning remains of the northern city gate built by the Romans almost two millennia ago. Distinctive for its dark grey sandstone. For a small fee tourists access the upper levels but the ground level and surroundings remain free to wander.

Noud Frenken — Google review

Just walked around and through. Not sure what the inside is like, but worth just walking around. Fascinating spot right in the city centre. Perfect spot for a picture or to touch some really old rocks. Well kept area when we were there.

This was cool to check out and learn the history of the area. We were able to walk throughout the structure and see the architecture first hand! Worth the drive from Kaiserslautern. The graffiti was obnoxious but some people lack an appreciation for history.

The Porto nigro is huge!! Much bigger than I expected. The platz is an interesting place. Very busy during the day with tourists. I felt a little unsafe wandering around at night but other than that had a great experience.

A large city gate from Roman era approximately 2000 years old. A majestic piece of Roman architecture, although a little stands of what remains now. We did not go inside but it was worth admiring the building while standing there. It is a good entry point to the city of Trier, just 10-12 minutes by walk from the train station. From here you can start your tour. Everything is in the walking distance.

This is one of the doors of the city. We decided to stop by in Trier, while returning from our trip in Luxembourg and Strasburgh. We were not disappointed. It was amusing trip to German from Luxembourg. I had been went their only to see Porta Nigra. I had curious to see inside, ticket price 4 euro, as international student O had to pay 3 euro. I thought I may see many historical handy cruft inside, but it was almost empty! Only with structural building. I will not recommend too much to people to visit this place but to have a relaxation take lunch yes you may go to this area.

Riaz Uddin Phy — Google review

We took a tourist train tour here and it was a good way to have an overall view of the city, to then explore by foot by ourselves. It was 10 euros per person, 45 minutes-long. The Porta Nigra itself is impressive, and you can’t miss it when in Trier.

André Marques — Google review

Very nice old place. Entry is 4€ and you can buy the ticket at the entrance, also, climb to the top to take some lovely scenic shots of the Trier city centre. Roman Built and still standing after all these years, it's a proof of quality and resiliance of Roman architecture. Very well maintained and full od historical panels that display the rich history of the place. 10/10 visit.

Very beautiful roman architecture. Entrance fee is 4 € and one can climb in the gate itself. I visited on a Wednesday, there was no line, I was almost alone there, which was very nice. I took a lot of pictures and videos

Kristal Kirby Windischmann — Google review

An extraordinary Roman city gate that is regarded to be the most intact city gate from classical times in the world (due to its incorporation into a church during the Middle Ages preventing its gradual demolition as building material was reused, which was followed by demolition of the church during Napoleon times to restore the city gate in its Roman appearance). Admission 4€, the roof level was closed for renovation, 3 other levels were accessible. One of the best Roman structures I have ever seen, especially in northwestern Europe.

The Cologne Chocolate Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of chocolate. The museum has permanent exhibitions on the history of chocolate from different parts of the world, and includes interactive exhibits for visitors to experience the taste and texture of different chocolates.

What an impressive show of industrial skill. I’ve been to chocolate museums before but this was on another level. It had partially operational industrial machinery demonstrating how chocolate is made now and in the past. Then on top of that it has several historical exhibits, a chocolate shop and a cafe. Nearly everything is in English. Quite the experience for a foreigner.

Aron Steg — Google review

You can buy tickets upon entry, no need for advance tickets unless you want. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum and learning the history of chocolate and how it’s made, processed, and used across the world and different cultures.Coolest part is seeing the chocolate actually made right in front of you through different steps. You even get to click a button that pops out the chocolate that was just cooled/made. Definitely worth the visit here in Cologne!

Art Map — Google review

The place is great! A must visit tourist attraction in Cologne. The place is mostly crowded on the weekend and the getting a ticket there might become a big challenge. The place is located right at the heart of the city so it’s easily accessible but parking is a problem, the place doesn’t have its own parking, need to use nearby parking places and walk to the museum. The place has lot of history and future plans for chocolate industry, also the making of chocolate. A whole floor is dedicated for chocolate making and you can see how chocolate bars are made by looking at the working machines. There is also small chocolate outlet to get chocolates and souvenirs from the museum.

Ajay Meganathan — Google review

Very informative museum, plus free samples! Easy to get tickets as they were issued in 15minute increments. Loved the history and the ways so many countries contribute to chocolate manufacturing. Plus great to see chocolate making in action!! Cafe was a nice atmosphere after wandering; crepes were divine!!

I would not say that this is a must visit on your trip to Cologne. Also with entry ticket at at EUR 14 per adult, the place is a bit expensive. We went to the place as a family with our four year old son. The place gives information on chocolate processing, and one can find live chocolate production happening at the place. You can taste the freshly made chocolate, if you buy tickets to the museum. Overall the place is OK, If you are on a leisurely trip to Cologne, you may visit the place.

NEERAJ MATHEW JOSEPH — Google review

Nice place to have an idea about how the 'Lindt' chocolates are made. Very nice place to take children for their level of excitement.Especially nice to see the different types of process throw which chocolates are made. It's one of a kind experience. Not to forget and miss the free sample tasting of chocolate wafers provided.Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Exciting information about chocolates are available.

Sharon Elizabeth Delson — Google review

The museum is not so big and the whole tour takes about 1-1,5 h. It's good to come in the morning as it isn't crowded. To avoid waiting in the line, I would recommend buying the tickets earlier via the website. In the museum you can see a lot of information about each step of chocolate production. Actually you will get an answer to all kinds of questions about chocolate. Inside there is a small production line which is very interesting. In the end, you may taste a fresh piece of chocolate or try something sweet from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting however the price of the ticket could be a bit lower.

zaqwer93 — Google review

It was one of my super nice experiences. The museum gives us all the details of the chocolate 🍫, the history of the owner, and where the farms of the company are.You can bay also pay one Euro to planting one coco tree 🌳

Reasonably priced and really enjoyable for people of all ages. Explains where the raw ingredients come from, transport, production (the smell is superb), marketing and sustainability to name a few. Free chocolate along the way including the chocolate fountain, and be sure not to miss the cafe afterwards, the staff everywhere were nice but my server in the cafe in particular was great. Gift shop not silly money either for the quality you’re buying. A must visit!!!

Lee Hinchcliffe — Google review

Really sweet experience! They give some free Lindt chocolate when you enter, good for some sugar rush as you explore the museum. You can try some free chocolates at various chocolate stations. You get to see the process of making chocolate and you’ll also see some robotic machinery they use now.If you come in after 5pm, they have a ticket sale, since they close at 6pm. The chocolates in the store are also priced well.

Abigail Christine Chen — Google review

Really interesting factory museum. I thought they did a nice job including a wide array of interests/considerations to include some relating to fair trade and global warming concerns in the chocolate industry. Lots to look at, you could spend half a day here for sure. Loved the shop, plenty to buy there. One of the coolest things was that you have the opportunity to have a custom chocolate bar made right in front of you!

Crystal Firestone — Google review

Fun for the entire family. I think particularly those with children would do themselves a disservice by not going to this place. But even those who would perhaps have a grey hair more than they would like are still going to find something fun and educational in the visit. The tour is well laid out and you get great views of the city . Its a well spent time in Cologne.

Ruben Williams — Google review

This is an amazing place to be. Although there was a huge crowd both in and outside the museum you’ll love it there. So detailed illustration of how chocolate is made. You’ll also get small gifts both when going in, inside and when going outside. It’s a lovely experience

I love chocolate, especially lindt! Complimentary chocolate on arrival was happily received, then an interesting history of cocoa until the best part, the chocolate fountain and factory section. Samples of the liquid chocolate are handed out, I could've stayed in that section the whole time! I wasn't too bothered about the rest of the museum other than the complimentary chocolates upon leaving. The shop had an amazing selection too. Busy on weekends

Definitely worth to visit when you’re in Cologne. The museum is full of story and supply chain science of our daily chocolates! 🍫 buy ticket online and skip the waiting lines and come as early as possible, game changer!

A beautiful and charming museum. Gives you a nice background about the chocolate making, manufacturing and distribution process. You also get free chocolates! You can also get a chocolate from freshly prepared chocolate. If you want you can also make your own customized chocolate bar. It takes almost 2-3 hrs to roam around the museum. Do not forget to get chocolates from the shop below😄.

We visited the Lindt chocolate Museum recently. We were thrilled to attend the fine tasting session. The narrator gave us an complete overview of the chocolate processing and we had an opportunity to taste some of the products during the process like from the coco beans, coco butter to final stage of finished chocolate.Highly recommend to get an online booking specially during weekend. We saw really huge line on Saturday luckily we had our session booked. Good for kids.

Buy tickets in advance online. Go early, when the museum opens to avoid the crowds. I enjoyed that they showed the entire journey of a chocolate bar. Even showing things like shipping and market share of different brands. Even though I was there on a Sunday there were lots of staff in the chocolate factory showing off their craft which was great to see. The museum also had a history part, detailing things such as chocolate during the wars. So in summary, the museum really has a bit of everything and of course the opportunity to taste the chocolate. I would recommend a visit if in Cologne. Also, if you are there during December the Christmas market in front of the museum was one of the less crowded markets.

Jen Jomp — Google review

It is a well designed museum with a lot happening there. As many others recommended, buy your ticket well in advance and if you're interested in a tour (I highly recommend one) buy it way way in advance.I booked the short course (30 min) that gave an overview of different stages of production with tasting (Yes! we tried a bean!). It was worth the extra 2.5 EUR for sure and was not too long. There's a green house with chocolate and banana trees that have fruits!I recommend going there if you're in Köln. Definitely one of the best things to do there.

Mohammadamin Tajik — Google review

Visiting this museum was one of the best decisions I made when I was in Cologne, Germany.During the tour there are different exhibitions that explain everything from the origin of chocolate, to the way it is processed and obtained, as well as its commercial distribution. The tour is very entertaining, and the best thing is that they give free chocolate samples. Although the price could be considered somewhat high, I think it is totally worth it.

Janik Tomás — Google review

Pretty special museum if you are really into chocolate, infographics, and more chocolate :)Try to avoid visiting during weekends for a less crowded experience, and buy your ticket online to avoid waiting on the queue in the entranceThe museum has nice areas to visit, a cafe and a chocolate store. There is even a roof you can access from outside with a beautiful view

Humam Kay (PXi4-XXAX) — Google review

Super cool. You get to see where chocolate started and all of the processes to make it. There are samples from the chocolate made right in front of you, and you even have an opportunity to have your own chocolate bar made with different toppings. The chocolate tastes better than what is sold in the stores. So delicious and so fun! Use the QR code to purchase tickets. Waiting in line takes a lot longer.

Robyn Early — Google review

That was a nice place to visit when you are in Cologne. Seeing A cocoa tree is interesting and a bunch of interesting information. My only complaint was the people assigned who are helping/ordering the queue. They were rude even on a plain simple question...

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Cologne Cathedral is a huge, imposing building with a beautiful facade. It's also a popular tourist destination with guided tours and views of the Rhine.

Majestic, grand and all those similar adjectives. This is the main attraction in cologne and is worth it. The space around the cathedral is also relaxing. The insides of the cathedral is breathtaking. Also you can climb the tower which is also, literally, breathtaking, since there are 500 odd steps to climb. Visit as early as possible to avoid crowd. It is specially beautiful at night with all the lights, it looks surreal.

Pranesh Dewangan — Google review

The place outside the Cathedral is too crowded and noisy that it is less possible for us to breath. The place is so beautiful and inside of the cathedral is calm and quiet. The art works are extremely brilliant. It would be better to go during the day time especially when it is sunny, so that you can enjoy the colorful glass paintings inside the cathedral.

Neha Nageswaran — Google review

The Cologne Cathedral is a magnificent architectural masterpiece that I had the pleasure of visiting. This Gothic-style cathedral, located in Cologne, Germany, is truly a sight to behold. With its towering spires reaching towards the heavens and intricate stained glass windows, it is no wonder the cathedral has garnered so much admiration and recognition. The interior of the cathedral is equally awe-inspiring. The high ceilings and ornate carvings that adorn the walls add to the sense of grandeur and historical significance that this beautiful building possesses. I was particularly captivated by the organ, which is a remarkable feat of engineering and craftsmanship. The atmosphere inside the cathedral is one of reverence and tranquility, allowing visitors to appreciate the art and spirituality that encompasses them. Exploring the Cologne Cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Erik — Google review

Very nice cathedral to visit. Free to enter, although the queues can get very long.Worth a visit - and when a place looks this nice, and is free, it deserves a 5-star rating.Check the opening times in advance. There is often maintenance taking place which can affect opening times

Cologne Cathedral and the Love Lock Bridge offer a perfect blend of awe-inspiring architecture and romantic charm in the heart of the city. A must-see for visitors looking to soak in Cologne's rich history and vibrant culture.I just put the photos of some unique locks! On the bridge. It just looks fancy!😅the way back we had a beautiful sunset.

Harsh*tha N.G. — Google review

One of the most mesmerizing pieces of architecture I’v seen in my life. The details, the size, the view, the history and the beauty are all immaculate.I came to cologne on a business trip and on my last day I decided to explore the city and it was the best decision ever and later I read about the cathedral and its history. You can go to the other side of the river to take some nice photos as well. Also note that if you want to get inside the cathedral you’ll have to go between 10:00 and 17:00 on weekdays. The love bridge is also near by which will give you a nice view of the cathedral and the river.

Snowy — Google review

Located in the heart of cologne, right next to the train station. This cathedral is so magical and the view is breathtaking. Would suggest early hours to avoid the crowd. Also there are some relaxing places outside the cathedral. Beautiful at night with lights on. This is also under one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.

Dinuka De Silva — Google review

One of the biggest and the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever been to! You can easily go there by trains as it is located next to the train station. Inside the cathedral, there are many beautiful stained glass windows and I really liked the statues. No entry fee but there are a lot of visitors.

If you're in town, there's no way you should miss it. It's not just about the aesthetics of the church but the whole vibrant atmosphere around it. If you're into a bit of chaos, you'll enjoy various groups engaging in different activities, singing, protesting, and more. But if you get tired of the commotion, the tranquility of the Rhine River is just around the corner, along with great places to eat

Ashraf Saad — Google review

Amazing construction, the heart of Koln. It's the most visited attraction of Germany. You can visit it for free.If you want to go up in the tower you need to climb 533 stairs and pay 6 euros (adult). The view is wonderful.

Sorin Ion — Google review

Amazing Cathedral to see, right in the heart of Cologne. The view is tremendous from all sides on the outside - you'll have no issue spotting the tall spires, and as you close in you'll notice all the magnificent detail in the architecture. You can enter inside (check hours), however, you can't bring in any large bags; and be vigilant of any masses taking place.

Mat Bienczyk — Google review

A remarkable work of architecture that is difficult to fully absorb without being in front of it. There are many details worth appreciating when standing close; but it’s when you step back that you can feel the immense scale of the work. Incredible - and a lot of fun to look at while visiting the Christmas market, if you are here in the winter.

D W — Google review

Free to get in, probably no surprise to many but this place is huge. Very tall, can’t miss it. Came for a day out. Very good fun, not much to do around the area tho. A lot of room inside to look about lots to look at

Beautiful cathedral.2nd tallest building in the world! A dream come true for me.Lighting is perfect, and lots of historical stuff inside too.The trip to Cologne is worth the time trust me!

I highly recommend taking some time to visit "The Dom!" The architecture and craftsmanship that went into that structure are astounding. If you're up for it, climb The Dom and then let your legs rest inside as you take in all the beauty within. Buy the guidebook in the gift shop so you can read more about the artwork and specific features as you're taking it all in. It's a beautiful piece of history to behold.

Jules Hicks — Google review

Huge cathedral in cologneIt was the first time in this city and really enjoyed walking around and seeing so many interesting places and of course this cathedral I couldn’t had it in one flame and also couldn’t had it without the crowd. But we could enjoyed the views from far away. Hope everyone enjoyed visiting this cathedral and this city as wellHave a wonderful trip and a good time with your company❤️

Pritikamon Kathu — Google review

Outstanding! Don't miss the opportunity to go to the top of the belfry (no elevator, might be very cold and windy depending on the season and weather). Free admission to the cathedral, 5€/person - entrance to the belltower. And there is a WC :)

LOVE UKRAINE — Google review

Entrance to Cathedral is free. In front of is the line for security check only. Place is the highest and built with so many details you must visit and see. Inside is possible to light a candle and pray, there is enough space to get peace from tourists for a few minutes. Overall, amazing.

Marina B — Google review

Amazing and breathtaking, a true feat of human engineering. Free entry into cathedral proper, but small fee if you want to climb the tower (~500 steps) or explore the treasury. Main church has plenty to see and its easy to relax and enjoy the organ every so often. Mass is available quite frequently. Such a beautiful and impressive church! Definitely worth a trip to see!

Matthew Allen — Google review

Magnificent cathedral with majestic views. The first view of the cathedral from the train station is breathtaking. The (ticketed) climb up the stairs of bell tower was fun and the views of Cologne from the top were great. Definitely worth a visit.

Ratna Khatri — Google review

Going to Cologne Cathedral with your friends was amazing. The building is super impressive with its tall spires and fancy details. When you go to the top, you can see a really great view of the city. It's a really special place shows architecture brilliance, history and culture. Definitely worth checking out!

Anis Kasmani — Google review

It is one of the most visited destinations by tourists, as it is definitely impressive. I was totally fascinated by the architecture of this place.I loved the feeling of tranquility and security inside the cathedral. However, it is also quite imposing. What surprised me the most was the catacombs part.I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit this place.

Janik Tomás — Google review

Cologne Cathedral is beautiful, amazing building. It is 157 m tall and the world’s third largest Gothic-style cathedral with 10,000 square metres of windows and 20,000 visitors daily.A lot of people want to take a picture of it so always is crowded in front of cathedral, but it's worth it.

Aleksandra Nesic — Google review

I visited Cologne for Christmas 2023 and it was a great experience. There were a lot of tourists, big crowds, and there was a Christmas bazaar around the cathedral. This cathedral is my second favorite place in Germany, so I highly recommend everyone to visit it. It's huge size cathedral, look so amazing by night

DarkO Milo — Google review

What an impressive building it is! Beyond imagination. I was blown away and someone even played the organs. Thank you for that.I just do not understand why they decided to build a railway station and a two lane road by the cathedral.

Petr “Švany” Švancar — Google review

Climbed to the top of the cathedral. One stair case for both up and down and over 500 steps on a narrow spiral staircase. Not for the unfit or people scared of tight spaces. However once at the top the views were amazing

John Evans — Google review

This was the first cathedral we went to on our visit to Germany. As we came out of the DB station , the cologne cathedral standing in front looked heavenly... It was a sight which has remained with me till date, the beautiful architecture of the Cathedral along the hotel spaces with the rhine river bridge along it looked mesmerizing...The interior of the church looks beautiful. There is a provision to go till the top through stairs and it gives a birds eye view of Cologne city 🌆The cafes around are a cherry on top, just take a cup of a drink and enjoy the intricacies of the architectural beauty 😍

Sachin Yadav — Google review

We visited the cathedral during the week. Once out of the train station you see the cathedral just outside. Take the opportunity to cross the bridge to the other side of the river and go to the view point. For a small fee you have spectacular views of all the city.

Jessica Álvarez — Google review

The scale of this place impresses me each time I visit. It's an incredible work of art and history. 300 years to build. It would be amazing if restorations were able to occur more quickly to remove more of the black from the exterior. It's truly amazing!

Loren Suess — Google review

Zoo

Outdoor Activities

The Zoo d'Amnéville is an independent animal park showcasing approximately 2,000 species from five different continents. Along with their animal exhibits, the zoo offers a distinctive medieval-style falconry show. Their Facebook page provides visitors with up-to-date information and photographs of their animals, as well as discussing general animal news. In close proximity to the zoo are 72 hotels and other accommodations that can be booked through Hotels.com for as low as /night.

We had a wonderful visit to Zoo d'Amnevelle. The zoo is stroller friendly and my toddler only needed a little help seeing into some of the exhibits. We watched the sea lion and the falcon show and both were amazing. Throughout the zoo, there are plenty of kiosks for food. The prices were a little steep, but not unreasonable for zoo food. We were able to see almost all of the animals. There were only a handful of exhibits where the animals were either hiding or currently not in there. We will be back for sure, we spent 7 hours at the zoo and felt like we barely scratched the surfaces on what we could see.

Justin O — Google review

An older facility, but very well maintained! The place is very large with an abundance of trees of all kinds. You could almost say you are walking within a forest! Start early in order to see everything and to catch all the shows, and I suggest at 10am when it opens (closes at 5 I think). There are 3 shows not to be missed, the holographic, the seals and the birds, and these i put in order from good to better to best. You do NOT want to miss the bird show! Get there early though to get.a spot in the shade, otherwise you will burn! You also have to follow the map religiously in order to see all the animals, because the paths can confuse you a bit. There are 3 locations throughout the park where you can eat either burgers or snacks. If you eat the burgers just remember that the French cook them medium to rare, so if you like them more well done, you need to ask for it. There is plenty of parking, its free and its very close to the entrance of the park. Don't expect good souvenirs from the gift shop though, that was the only let down. All in all its a great place to visit with the kids, just plan on using the whole day!!

Demosthenis Axiotis — Google review

Amazing zoo! Highly recommend it, you can find all kinds of Animals, birds and reptiles here! Our little one enjoyed a lot and so did we! It’s worthed as you can spend all day here. There are some live shows too, that leaves you awestruck! Luckily we could witness the Seal show and it was wow! Perfect for a one day outing from Luxembourg or France!

A fantascic zoo with mostly large enclosures, beautiful styled for its inhabitants and visitorsA super bird show showing of both beauty and skil of the participating birds as well as the skill of their handles.Collection of large cats and some of the smaller ones, nicely done savannah, and must see bear enclosures, one of a wolverine living together with a brown bear.A bit on the pricy side @ €33,- / adult, but with free parking and afordable hotel near.Dinks are proced as expected €2,50 for 33cl (2022) foor on the more expensive side.I would recommend a full day if you are fast, multiple days if you observe or photograph animals. Worth a few hours travel

Very nice place to visit with kids and family. Lots of restaurants inside and in the surroundings.Show of birds it's a really good surprise, worth to see the 30 min presentation - check their schedule.Gorilla was amazing, so human eyes, you can talk to their souls.Few nocturnal animals, of course, were sleeping.35min from Luxembourg and usually don't need to book in advance. Around 32 euros per person.

Great Zoo park to visit for a day out. We were visiting on Sunday, The parking lot is very close to the zoo. I was able to appreciate many different animals.Very impressive Gorilla enclosure. You can get some lunch in the park or enjoy coffee and ice-cream.

Martyna Nikitina — Google review

For being a Zoo it’s great for kids, the shows are nice and the animals are overall visible. 1 day trip well deserved. For adults it’s a little tougher depends on your view on zoos and animals in captivity… Personally feel a little sad for them and the elephants are so sad.

Iacopo Biondi — Google review

A zoo worth travelling to! I was surprised with how large the zoo was and how many animals there were to see. The zoo is designed beautifully and creates a very enjoyable environment. The animals also look very well looked after and energetic. I have visited many zoos where the animals are usually quite lethargic but the animals here certainly had personality! Thoroughly entertaining! One negative is that in the cafe area the ground was very active for mice.

Jessica Nguyen — Google review

It is a great Zoo! It was better when they did the Tiger Show and when they had Tiger world but still a cool zoo. I was surprised that there was no replacement Show? We saw the Sea Lion Show and it was good!

Jasmin ?nen — Google review

There is a very large free car park near the zoo, well organized. The zoo itself has a wonderful selection of animals to admire. We feel that a lot of emphasis is placed on the animals living in as realistic an environment as possible. The animals and the enclosures appear well cared for. The large number of species delights young and old. There is also a petting zoo and a playground for the kids. Tip: Take a picnic with you. The food could really improved and it's from our point of view overpriced.

Marcus Schuler — Google review

Visited the Luminescences festivalThe illumination is beautiful and charming. The walk is about 1.4 kilometers through differently themed areas with hundreds of illuminated figures. Great photo opportunity.

Thomas Lückhof — Google review

Nice place to visit in your spare time. Takes more than 2 hours to see all the animals. Guide map might be confusing at times and you might need to pass through same place more than once. But overall a positive experience.

Vüqar Cəfərov — Google review

A nice and big Zoo, it has many sections from different continents of the world. There is a huge free parking around it. The tickets costs 35€ and not 17€ as mentioned on google maps. Overall, it was nice to visit and spend a sunny Sunday there.

Noha Afifi — Google review

Once my favorite zoo in France, then the old management did some "dumb" stuff and the zoo fell into decline. Under new management now it's clearly coming back from that brink, there some way to go, but it's a great day for the family and their new projects look amazing like they used to be. Very hopeful for the future.

Probably the best zoo I have ever been(i visited already a lot), it's not huge but its absolutelly green, like a jungle, Especially in this summer season. Many of the animals have plenty of space, and it feels super clean! :) It was an unexpected experience! I will return :)

Nature & Parks

The Bock Casemates are an extensive network of underground tunnels and galleries that were constructed in 1644 as a part of the Fortress of Luxembourg. The fortress was built on the Bock promontory, which was chosen for its strategic location offering natural protection. Over the centuries, it was reinforced and attacked multiple times, and at its peak time showcased numerous forts across three fortified rings.

really cool and beautiful historic sight! i’m not big into walking but i really loved climbing and seeing everything. unfortunately the tours are closed unless you visit in the summer but i would absolutely come back to see inside. highly recommend and a must see even if you’re spending a short time in luxembourg! 🏰

Regan Williams — Google review

It is a neat place to explore. If you have children, they will really enjoy the tunnels and it is pretty safe as well. The entrance says 45 minute time limit, but not sure how it is enforced. However, that much time is enough to see it all though. You don’t really need to buy tickets in advance if you go midweek.

Mike B — Google review

A great place to explore and lovely views. Would have liked some more information on certain parts but the leaflet was adequate. Nice to freely walk around at your leisure.

Rachael Flood — Google review

The Mother Nature give them advantages to have such a rocky place and situated exactly in the Center of the city. If you are a tourist and do not have a guide and plus you don’t speak French then it will be difficult to room around and find the spots you are looking for.The city doesn’t offer free internet or there are some spots but very low signal so you have to have your own internet. There are less signs showing ways how to access the Touristik spots , so make sure to really pre plan all the steps of your trip on your own

Ruzanna Konjoryan — Google review

Cool historic place to discover and stroll through on your own. Great views over Grund. Price seems very fair (8€). A few more signs and informative texts would have helped.

Fun stop with lots of history! Sold out online for days, but tickets were available for an entrance in an hour. Busy, but they do a good job of keeping the casem*nts not overly busy. Don't miss the side route near the exit that goes under the road. Spiral stairs carved into the rock to the left of the steps up to the exit. It is a lot of steps...you've been warned! Down and then back up.

Jeff — Google review

Very lovely and impressive views of the valley from the walls at the top and from the lookout points throughout. There is fascinating and multi layered history in the landmark, having served as a fortress for hundreds of years

Katherine Kelly — Google review

Very beautiful and unusual. Be sure to visit the casemates, but do not go down the spiral stone staircase if you have poor physical fitness 😁. When you joyfully reach its end deep below, you will understand that the way out goes along the same steep endless steps, only up 😄. It was a great adventure

This is a World Heritage Site.Luxembourg's old quarters and fortifications. The city itself was founded in 963 and has played a significant role in European history throughout the centuries. We came during winter so weren't able to visit the tunnels but we were able to walk around the top parts and get some amazing views of the city. This is a must if you are in Luxembourg.

1girl 1passport — Google review

The view is indeed beautiful and also a good place to get your excellent photos as well. The paid city tour bus starts from this point. Also this will be always quite crowded as it is a famous place to get that balcony view.

Great to see such a cool piece of history and imagine the soldiers and others scurrying through the tunnels when there was activity to defend.

Loved it, such a great view from there in all directions. Interesting to see what people did back then building the cellar of the castle in the mountain stone.

Steven VanSkyler — Google review

What an incredible site to see. The views from every spot were great. The history was awesome. It was a complete step back in time and I can't wait to go back again.

Jeff MIlls — Google review

The place can be reached easily from Luxembourg station, it will drop you to the exact location, where you can easily roam around by foot & explore, click pictures etc. It has an ancient setup with information which you can read and understand. I believe you will need approx 2 to 3 hours to cover upstairs, downstairs and around if you want to cover completely and not rush but relax. When we went there the weather was a bit foggy and cold plus we had to catch our bus for Saarland within 2 hours so we rushed and did not cover full location. But I still enjoyed. Since it was November month, there were Christmas market also which all families were enjoying. Overall beautiful place with no public transport cost so worth visiting.

Meera Upadhyay — Google review

If you love to learn history and don’t like sunlight that much, this is the place for you.Pros: Great Views, and the permanent exhibition at the end of the walk is well-designed and quite enjoyable.Cons: frankly speaking, the walk itself is long and …not as interesting as I thought.

We really enjoyed it.Nice views. If you are in Luxembourg, you need to visit this place. I bought tickets online at a specific time.

Emilija Berlafa — Google review

I want to say that I live for 3 years in Luxembourg and only by mistake I discovered that we can visit the galleries.❤️🥰👏 The entrance is actually hidden underneath the little tower from Montee du Clausen (Casemates Memorial Point). The experience was quite unique. The galeries are layered (I think) on two levels. The views over the city are special and magnificent (although in my case it was raining 🌧), because the viewpoints are unique🏞🏤. I loved also the light 💡efects inside the casemates. They give a special (modern and old) touch to the visit. You can also see these light efects 🪩 from Grund during the night 🌌.The only thing that confused me a little bit was the fact that there were no signs ↗️(or a map) 🗺 to show the direction ➡️ of the visit, so I got a little bit lost 😆😁. There were galleries that i've seen twice. I estimate that, the duration of the visit 🕑 can vary between 30-45 minutes. For me, the casemates are special and unique. I would love to see them again without any hesitation. ❤️🥰🤩

Roxana to you — Google review

Very beautiful but quite slippery. There were a very long line but we didn’t queue at all as we bought tickets in advance, so I highly recommend to do so

Samira MAOILI — Google review

Great historical place. It's a must visit in Luxembourg. It is a huge underground complex built in 1644 and was used as a bomb shelter during WWII. It's huge and amazing. Lots of beautiful viewpoints. You need a minimum of an hour to explore the place. There is one section that is not mentioned in the booklet, it can be accessed through the stairs from the iron gate room. This section was really impressive and showed the depth of it. Going through each section and understanding the history behind it was fascinating. I recommend buying tickets in advance. Tickets can be bought at the ticket counter as well but they either sell out soon or you have to wait for your time slot. Another thing is it's a bit difficult to locate the entrance/ticket counter. Do carry a water bottle.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Aachen Cathedral (Aachener Dom) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is one of the most important religious monuments in Europe and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The octagonal Palatine Chapel was built by Emperor Charlemagne as his palace church in 800 and later became the coronation chapel for Holy Roman Emperors. The Gothic choir was completed in 1414.

This Roman Catholic church is really old as it dates back to the 9thcentury. Many German Kings and Queens were crowned in Aachen's Cathedral, as well as being the resting place for Charlemagne. There is nothing modest about this structure. Mosaics, gold and marble in the interior add a glorious feeling. It is considered occidental architecture and if you take a tour you can learn all about this new UNESCO World Heritage site.

So much history throughout this stunning Dom. Free to walk in on the first floor, where you get a view of the mosaic ceilings and top to bottom, stained glass. The climb to the top of the tower is also easy and accessible. This is a must see when visiting Aachen.

My visit to Aachen Cathedral in 2014 was a fascinating journey into the heart of history and art. The cathedral's rich architectural heritage and religious significance left a lasting impression, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and culture lovers. The intricate design and craftsmanship of the cathedral's interior were awe-inspiring. The golden mosaics and beautifully adorned chapels showcased the skill of the artisans who created this magnificent place of worship. The Palatine Chapel, in particular, stood out with its unique octagonal shape and exquisite detailing. The historical importance of Aachen Cathedral as the coronation site of numerous German kings added to its allure. Standing in the same space where centuries of royal history unfolded was a humbling experience that transported me back in time. The cathedral's surroundings, including the charming Old Town and the nearby Elisenbrunnen, provided an excellent backdrop for exploring the city's cultural offerings. However, the experience could have been enhanced with more detailed information provided at various points within the cathedral. While the architecture spoke volumes, additional signage or guided tours would have provided deeper insights into its historical and religious significance.Overall, Aachen Cathedral is a treasure trove of art, history, and spirituality that should not be missed. Despite the minor lack of information, the beauty and cultural value of this UNESCO World Heritage Site make it a compelling destination for anyone with an appreciation for the past and the wonders of architectural excellence.

A pretty cool place to visit. Thearchitecture is very intricate on the outside. It’s amazing how detailed the inside is. Seems like every square inch of this place is as decorative as possible. The stained glass is a sight to see. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy elaborate architecture. A pretty casual environment. You’re pretty much free to walk around at your leisure and enjoy it at your pace.

I was in awe to visit this church, no wonder it is the first site to be granted UNESCO World Heritage in Germany. Vistors are allowed starting at 1pm, you have to pay extra to enter the area where Charlemagne's grave is. It is really worth a visit. Very impressive. Pictures does not do the justice on how beautiful it is.

Impressive, unparalleled. Middle ages, Charlemagne, Barbarossa....i don't wont to repeat the trivial things - check Wiki... If you come around 10 am you probably will be lucky to book a same day guided tour ( German/English). With this tour you can see some areas of the Cathedral that are not accessible otherwise. Absolutely worth visiting.

One important historical landmark in the city of Aachen, Germany. Situated in the heart of city centre of the Aachen city. I would say a must visit place in this city. Inside the cathedral it’s so beautiful. Entry is free. From outside also it’s huge and also beautiful.

This is a very beautiful cathedral absolutely worth a visit. I was really impressed by the beautiful artwork in the cathedral. There was a fee of 1 EUR to take pictures, but that was absolutely OK considering that there is no entrance fee.

Really beautiful church. Visit is more than recommended. This is definitely on of Aachen highlights. Free ticket to the church, if you have time include the treasury which is a bit further, but course it is payed. Not here like google maps indicates.

Very nice cathedral. Built by Charlemagne. Has two very distinctive architectural styles, Roman and medieval European. Not too busy and you can get guided tours.

Impressive history. Unusually shaped church. Incredible interior artwork. We have visited four or five times and see something new with every visit, especially depending on the hour of the day and the amount of light on the windows.

Gorgeous cathedral with wonderful details all over the ceiling. You pay €1 for taking pictures inside (fair price) and €3 to go to the roof and see the city form there. Definitely worth visiting.

This is a beautiful cathedral inside and out. Really worth a visit. You need to pay to take photos inside, if I had had my DSLR with me, I would have paid. It’s very beautiful inside.

Majestic and huge church with intricate designs on the ceilings and floors inside. Very aesthetic and something very different from other cathedrals. A must recommend. Free to enter. You can also take pictures but you’d need to deposit 1 euro coin for taking pictures, which I think is justifiable as the interior is so beautiful.

It is a really singular cathedral (with a unique distribution of the main chambers) in comparison to the standard concept of cathedral that one could think about. During Christmas, it is surrounded by the Christmas market, which makes it even more special. I think it would be great, if they would allow us to get into the top of the cathedral to see the views.

Absolutely stunning cathedral, along with an amazing and historic Christmas market right outside. 100% worth seeing! The inside of the cathedral is jam packed with intriguing designs all over.

Aachen Cathedral is a masterpiece that left me in awe. The intricate architecture and historical significance make it a must-visit. The blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles creates a captivating atmosphere. The cathedral's role in history, housing Charlemagne's Palatine Chapel, adds another layer of fascination. A truly enriching experience for history and architecture enthusiasts

A very beautiful cathedral with breathtaking views. The surroundings are so beautiful and peaceful. Although the city is so vibrant and busy you cannot feel this when you are so close to the cathedral where everything is so calm.

Cristina Ferentiu — Google review

A masterpiece of medieval architecture, it stands as a monumental testament to Charlemagne’s reign, and it blends Romanesque and Gothic styles in its grand design. Renowned for its Palatine Chapel and intricate mosaics, it has been a pilgrimage site and a coronation church for German kings, embodying centuries of European history and artistry.
