Tyler Morning Telegraph SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 2005 TYLER FUNERALS Graveside Services Slated Sunday For Edna Vaughn Graveside services for Edna Vaughn, 82, Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Myrtle Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Carter officiating under direction of Bailey Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Ms. Vaughn died April 28 in Tyler.

She was born June 1, 1922, in San Diego, to William Edward and Lillie Boysen Vaughn. She was a Kathy Elaine Dodd GLADEWATER Services for Kathy Elaine Dodd, 48, Gladewater, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Croley Funeral Home, Gladewater, with Brother Jay VanZandt officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. Mrs.

Dodd died April 28. She was born Dec. 4, 1956, in Longview, was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, White Oak. Survivors include her husband, Rick Dodd, Gladewater; sons, Greg Madden and Justin Madden, both of Gladewater; daughter, Melissa Morgan, Gladewater; mother, Louise Madden, Gladewater; brothers, Joe Glen Madden and John Madden, both of Gladewater, and Ray Madden, sister, Teresa Helms, 'Palestine; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leach died April 27 in Edom. She was born June 10, 1931, in Perry, to George Jackson and Estelle Joasiephene Adams Funderburk. She had lived in the Ben LEACH Wheeler and Edom area since 1981. She was a member of Edom United Methodist and a former owner of the Green Stand gas station on Highway 64.0 Survivors include her son, Michael Joseph Leach, Tulsa, sister, Patricia Emblen, Wheeling, W.Va.; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cummings died April 18 in Green Valley, Ariz. She was born July 17, 1940, in Edgewood to Henry Leon Sr. and Nola Fae Wood Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Cummings; mother, Nola Fae Wood Slaughter; and brother, Dr.

Jerry Slaughter. He was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Navarro County. He was the 1 founding pastor of Christian Life Center Church in Gun Barrel City 22 years ago, and was a pastor for 54 years. He also founded three of the six churches that he pastored. He was preceded in death by his father, H.E.

Robert was born in Palestine, Texas on February 2, 1924, to Albert and Zora Johnson. He married Ruth Marie Gilmore on June 3, 1943, in Denver, Colo. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Johnson.

Also preceded in death by sisters Jerry Johnson and Patsy Higginbotham and brother Joe Wallace Johnson. Survivors include: daughter Sandra Gail Johnston and husband Jim; son Robert Gordon (Bobby) Johnson Jr. and wife Michele; and daughter Julie Marie McKenzie and husband Darrell; five grandchildren Angela Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Melody McKenzie Hernandez and husband Eloy, Matt McKenzie and Michael McKenzie; four great-grandchildren Aricka Rohrman, Anthony and Abby Hernandez and Riley Piper; sisters Linnie Shaid and Betty Ann Dublin a and husband Hugh; sister-in-law Rosalie Johnson; brothers Cullen Johnson and Harold Johnson and wife Elva Nell; very dear friend Mildred Secrest and numerous other relatives and friends. Robert served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II as a B-29 the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was a resident of Pasadena, a member of First United Methodist Church Pasadena and the Couples Sunday School Class since 1947.

He had been a member of the Chancel Choir for 37 years and volunteered with the Levites Service Group. Robert was a former member of the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from in 1985 after 43 years of service. Visitation will be at Tennessee Colony Church, Tennessee Colony, Texas, from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1 with services immediately following.

Burial will be at Land of Memory Cemetery, Palestine, Texas. Mrs. Green passed away peacefully with her family and friends at her side on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Hospice of East Texas. She was born to Richard Wesley and Dale Spencer Jeter Burnett on Oct. 2, 1927, in Gladewater and lived in Tyler for the last three years. Mrs.

Green previously resided in Magnolia and Hot Springs, Ark. Founder of the Magnolia Junior Charity League and Charter Member of the Magnolia Boys Club, she was also member of the Elks Lodge of Hot Springs. He was born May 26, 1920, in Overton. Formerly of Troup, he had lived in Tyler one year, was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a retired welder from Lennox Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Mae Dowdy. Survivors include his sons, Buck Dowdy, Chandler, Lonnie Dowdy, Lawton, Allen Dowdy, Fort Worth; daughters, Gwen Swan and Janet Bobbitt, both of Whitehouse; sisters, Ruby Brown, Tyler, Christine Douglas, Portland, 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Services for Jesse O. Dowdy, 84, Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. LEO 'PAUL' SIRBAUGH HOUSTON Leo "Paul" Sirbaugh, beloved husband and father and decorated World War II B-24 pilot, died Wednesday April 27, 2005, in Houston at the age of 84.

Born November 2, 1921, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late John Edward and Clara Maude (Strout) Sirbaugh. Paul was raised in Cumberland, with a brother, Willard "Bill" and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Keyes and Edna Margaret Bruck. During his boyhood he was active in the Boy Scouts and earned money by selling the Saturday Evening Post. He was an avid basketball player and played "semipro" in the position of "guard" in his youth. After graduating from Fort Hill High School in 1940, Paul worked with his brother for two years as partners in a trucking business doing contract hauling.

He then moved to New York where he was employed with the fabric industry prior to SIRBAUGH enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He completed flight school and subsequently flew 35 successful bombing missions over Germany with his squadron "The Vultures" for which he received several military honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross. In 1945 he received an honorable discharge from the military and went to work at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, serving both at the Cumberland, and the Tyler plants. He retired in 1981 as the Manager of Quality Control. While employed at the "Kelly," Paul met and married his Kathryne Coffroth Wilson, who bore two children, Paul Edward and Tami Lee.

A devoted father, Paul shared with his children a love of always encouraging them to pursue higher education. Though often working more than a 5-6 day week, he served as a role model by taking many classes at local colleges primarily in the areas of American History and English. When time and responsibilities permitted, his favorite pastime was fishing. Surviving are his wife, Kathryne, his son, Dr. Paul E.

Sirbaugh, Houston; daughter, L. Becker, Westminster, granddaughter, Air Force Sgt. Megan D. Becker, Omaha, and sister, Edna Bruck, Painesville, Ohio. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Cumberland, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

He passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Hospice of East Texas, Tyler. Tommy worked as a purchasing agent for Texas Pipe in Houston and in later years lived and worked in Baton Rouge, for the Salvation Army, where he was known affectionately as Mr. Tom. He was a man with a great heart who helped many others. He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie McGuire Sr.

and a brother, MCGUIRE Herschel. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas D. McGuire Jr. and Sean Casey and Tracey McGuire of Deer Park; his mother, Grace McGuire of Arp; three brothers and sisters-inlaw, Clyde and Nancy McGuire of Houston, Lonnie and Jaye McGuire of Flower Mound, and Maxie and Pat McGuire of Morgan City, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jerry and John Hardy, Lois and George Durham, and Sue and Wayne Roberts, all of Arp; five grandchildren, Ashley Roe and husband Allen Roe, Ryan McGuire, Courtney McGuire, Jarred McGuire, and Devin McGuire; two great-grandchildren, Emma Roe and Madison Roe; numerous nieces and nephews; good Bob and Dennis of Baton Rouge, and many other friends." Two longtime friends, Jimmy Nelson and Dean Rinehart will serve as pallbearers along with nephews, Doug Randall, Mike Randall, Mike McGuire and Robin Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be George Durham, Patrick Randall and Chuck Howell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the Salvation Army or Hospice of East Texas..
