HFStival to Return in September - The MoCo Show (2024)

Last month, we asked: Where Did You Used to Buy Your Event Tickets?, where writer Ben Shlesinger wrote,“The main one for me was Tower Records in Rockville but there were other, smaller record/CD stores I’d go to in an effort to beat the crowds for HFStival tickets.”

Aaron Seyedian launched the home cleaning company Well-Paid Maids in June 2017 and, that August, began offering cleaning services around the D.C. area with his staff of three -- including himself.

At the time, he paid cleaners a living wage of $16 an hour, plus benefits.

Here's what he told The Washington Post in September 2017: "It's just immoral for people to have to panic every time the rent is due, to wonder how they're going to pay for their groceries, or whether they can buy their kid a pair of shoes."

Today, Well-Paid Maids has grown into a team of around 35 employees. Cleaners now get paid a starting wage of $24 an hour. Plus, they get benefits, like health, vision, dental and life insurance; 24 paid days off per year; 100% employer-paid commuting costs; and more.
